I'm replying to this a bit late, but why is the Duller Z4 in the Cup class again? This is virtually a GT2 car and yet it seems to be in with the 996 Cup Porsches and the N24 Aston (which is a GT4 car).
The Z4 is the quickest car in the field, with the strongest driver line-up, yet it has the instant advantage of an extra 20 litres of fuel per stint, which seems daft to me.
Hopefully it's just a typo in the entry list.

And why are 450-500bhp V8 BMW`s in the cup class, another GT2 entrant if ever there was one, banned from running due to homoligation problems let alone performance issues, and that was with restrictors, ballast weight & so on.
I think you have to pretty much ignore the class structure and decide what you think you competition is going to be then judge yourself against them. It isn`t right I know but I think the class structure has a lot to do with balanced entry numbers as much as anything. We`re not going to bother moaning this year, we`re just going to get our heads down and see where we end up overall. Sure if we come 4th behind, say the Z4 we`ll be pissed off but I just can`t see any regulations being enforced.
You mention fuel benefits, given the size of the tanks in cars the 120 litre max is merely a theoretical limit, even with a 120 litre tank you can`t run it bone dry and most people run 100 litre tanks, a few 110 litre.
Anyway - I don`t want to get dragged into a debate based on supposed power outputs, weights & the like. A reliable car will still reap rewards (of course a powerful reliable car will do even better but there you go !).
Lets have some fun and see what happens.

Looking at the entry list very impressive, but again about the duller Z4M has it had any changes to make it a GT Cup car cos comparing it to the other cars in that class, the duller last year was doing consitant 1:57 to 1:59 where as say the astons and nissans at the GT4 race this year at silverstone where only making 2:04 to 2:08's seems a tad unfair!
Fancy breakfast on Dunlop before taking a tour from Birmingham to Silverstone...........

Can you hear that pin dropping, wind in the branches, crickets in the grass... There maybe trouble ahead...Of course it will have no changes but then again since when has anyone been really clear on the classes in this thing?

Explain the class structure then...
Here comes that wind blowing through the trees again...
Everyone enters accepting where they are placed or asking for a change, if they don't its tough luck. If it did'nt work we would'nt do it and the grid would die so watch that space only. Granted I for one would prefer a solid class structure but frankly there is'nt one that would provide sufficient cars in this country outside GT3 (and thats debatable) but they have Spa anyway! Here comes that wind blowing through the trees again...
The point is the competition in this particular race is not so much about perfect parity as it is about comparible performance and preparation standards over a frankly huge ammount of time.
If you take our team as an example. My cars owner very nearly pulled out last year due to an upward class move two weeks before the race. We were placed with a much faster car with a professional driver line up and a good budget. They wearnt happy!! But, after doing extra research and the sums for beating them (baring bad luck) I came to the conclusion it could be done so we stuck with it. In an 8 hour race we would have had no chance and pulled out for being moved up, but in a 24 it could be done by around 3 laps with clean runs from both of us. We stuck with it and the rest is history.
The piont is a 24hr race is so much more than class structures. We make our choices and the event lives or dies by its balance in enforcing them. At present its mostly aceptable.
My only concern would be if I was racing in the GT3 class and the Duller MZ4 remains with a huge fuel advantage. But then the guys in GT3 can present their own case on that one.

After the last race I did think James had said they would be moved into class 1 this year. Certainly from their performance and obvious speed advantage last year they won`t have to work too hard to win the class.Henry

Oh God he's back again! Nothing constructive as usual.
Nothing at all to say as usual...Carry on and jump on the band wagon but regulations and the lack of clarity has caused issues within Britcar in general since the start. Now I agree with Simon that it might not be serious enough to cause people to throw all the toys out and simply stop - but then again there are some people who have done the series pretty mcuh since the start and didn't do it this year.
There is nothing wrong with wanting clarity and actually the organisation should want that clarity to make their life easy.
Funny how in almost a week nobody can clarify the class structure....
