I saw Michael at the Red Bull Air Race in Interlaken both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend looking very relaxed (and as a guest of Red Bull).

Adrain Newey and Michael Schumacher in the same team - now there's a thought!

Yeah sorry about that - a bit harsh wasn't it? My apologies.

He won't be driving if he does join the team, it would be like, say, David Beckham leaving Real Madrid to go and play in America.............oh hang on.........bad example, ............a better example would be..... er..... It would be like Roger Federer playing in the Botley-on-the-Wold village all comers tennis tournament, top prize £5 and one of Mrs Pepperpot's Lemon Sponge cakes.

Word is Schumi and Brawn are looking to buy Torro Rosso. This comes from somebody who works at Red Bull.

Mr Mateschitz says Torro Rosso is not for sale.

My source says that Torro Rosso is up for sale and that Mr Berger is looking to take complete control as a kind of Ferrari B team, Gene and Bourdais to be the drivers, Mcdonalds to be the sponsor.
Who, of course came very close to sponsoring Ferrari themselves a few years ago, so there's a happy coincidence. They are supposed to be worried about Prodrive being a Mclaren B team and therefore want their own.

However if I was Mclaren I would be far more worried about Prodrive doing a runner and building their rumoured LMP1 Aston.....

I am not calling your source a liar but how does he know this? Is he high up in the Red Bull company or does he work for Torro Rosso management? I knew a guy who was a laminator at Red Bull and they were told nothing about the deal from Jaguar to Red Bull.

Why would anyone on the shopfloor know about a deal?..It's not as if you wander into your local branch of Barclays and the teller (or even the branch manager) tells you that Bob Diamond's upped his offer for ABN to £50bn is it?

The STR story does seem plausible. Mateschitz has long been rumoured to want to offload STR. Berger has seemed keen to take full control and to be free to seek other sponsors. We know that Bourdais has virtually inked a 2008 deal and I can only assume Gene is there as part of a Ferrari link (although test drivers returning to race drives has hardly been a success has it?). Finally, isn't Bourdais' Indycar sponsored by McD?

I also like the Brawn/MS story, but I think that's just a tale....but in F1 you just never know do you?...stranger things have happened.

It's all false rumours and lies. I'm the one that is buying Red Bull! Does anyone know where to get it for less than £1.20?

This is rubbish. Most people were well informed about the deal.

Schumi & Berger. Brawn on duty too.

Watch and see.

I think it unlikely McDonald's will enter F1 with a minor team when in 2001 they were offered a whole car by a leading team for US $100 million and said 'F1 is not their target audience'.

McDonald's love soccer and grass roots sponsorships. F1 has the wrong demographics....same for Coca Cola, Pepsi etc.

Torro Rosso is up for sale but Berger does not have anywhere nearly enough money to buy the team....he is just a figurehead.

Prodrive and McLaren....don't hold your breath!

Coca Cola wouldn't do deals whilst tobacco was involved - not sure what the situation is now re Philip Morris and Ferrari. McD sponsor NASCAR and IRL don't they?...some precedent there...

You are correct, Berger doesn't have the money, but who says he has to come up with any to gain control of the team?

I threw a question (literally) at DR on the Friday of the Britsh GP just as he was jumping in his Vanquish (so much for the diesel Range Rover). He told me that "an announcement was that close" (and held his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart)...not sure how long that inch means, but I took it as an indication that he has his ducks in place now....
