MSA License - What can I do?

Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with a heart arrythmia that required an operation, radio ablation, to resolve. I was put on an anti coagulent and beta blockers for 4 months or so, which I stopped taking 3 weeks ago. As per their requirements, I sent away my licence renewal (Nat A) with the medical section completed by my GP, 10 days ago. Today they 'phoned me asking for a fax from my GP saying I was fit to race. However, my GP left this morning for a 3 week holiday, and I need my licence for the internations karting meeting and the Britcar 24 hour race, which are on the first 2 weekends of September.

Post operation, I have raced in 3 endurance kart meetings (3 x 1 hour races at each) setting 4 fastest laps - we lead the championship. I also set quickest time in 6 of the 8 events at a Palmersport event last week, and my fitness is improving quickly since coming off the beta blockers.

I have complied with their requirement via the application form, signed and detailed by my GP, so any suggestions what I can do?

Has anyone else has a similar issue with the MSA?

Give the MSA a call on monday morning, and ask for their advice. I asume when you talked with them this morning you didnt know about the GP problems?

They 'phoned me around 3PM - I'm guessing they tried to contact my GP, but couldn't, so 'phoned me instead....

So you didnt know you had a problem with the GP going away, and neither did they when you spoke? If so give the MSA a call on monday and ask them what you can do.

As said phone the MSA. Also, presumably you saw a consultant how about asking them to comment, they are probably much better placed to do so than your GP anyway.

Is your GP a one man band? Isn't there anyone else at the practice who could see you and make an assessment?

Spoke to the MSA who insisted that I get a fax from my GP/the surgery. Saw a locum who looked at my notes, and said he'd send a fax. I've since received an email from the MSA saying my licence will be here in a few days.

What a waste of his and my time - If they need a fax , then why don't they say so on the licence application form?

Out of interest did you have SVT?

SVT it was - exersise dependant AF. Had to be somewhere north of 150bpm for 40 minutes before it kicked in and stayed that way for 6 hours. I thought I was getting old! It had been happening for 15 months before I eventually went to see the GP. Caused a bit of a panic when they saw the 24 hour tape

All fixed now though.......
