Brundle questioning Alonso's sexuality?

Martin Brundle just announced that Alonso turned up in Turkey with a beard.
Am I reading too much into that?
It's definitely a statement by FA, but not what you're thinking.Am I reading too much into that?
Ron despises untidiness, including facial hair - so it's part of the ongoing FA/toys/pram scenario.

I thought it was moustaches that were gay, not beards.Am I reading too much into that?
Oh, the shame....having to explain a joke

Alonso really is showing himself up to be a very unprofessional weapons grade cock!! All the comment about how HE has made the car quicker etc etc!!!
Make your minds up, not long ago everyone was on about F1 drivers lack of personality, anyone who winds Ron up is fine by me
Edited by garyhun on Sunday 26th August 19:48
, but I think Alonso's a bit upset that he's been found out to be an average driver now he hasn't got Fisi to kick around

I thought it was a great comment and I wish we could have more of it. I think you guys wgo complain are just ridiculous. On one hand you want drivers with more personality and less political correctness, on the other hand the moment a driver makes any comment whatsoever you're all whinging. So what is it precisely that you want? Answer: you ain't got a clue, 'cos you just like whinging and you see the drivers as some sort of reflection of your own personality. Me? I like watching sport, not a soap opera.
I thought it was a good comment. Like he said, he drove last years car (of which Lewis would have had a hand in developing?) and he backed that comment up by precisely reminding us of last years succeses, ie zero. So now the car is quick, reliable and competitive and the team are back to the glory days. Yes, I know there are more people than just one driver responsible for the success of the car, and those people were also largely responsible for last years car.
I do wish we could hear more from the drivers though. Why you guys complain every time we do though is a total mystery to me.

We're not complaining (well not me anyway) .. we are making a comment about a person based on what he says. Just like you are!
I love hearing what drivers have to say, I njoy hearing what any sportsman, actor, musician has to say if I follow their career. BUT I am not so blind to recognize when they get their head stuck so far up their own arse that they believe that the worrld rotates because of them!! Sure, Alonso helps the team develop the car..as does every driver and tester. But to say HE was responsible for x 10's of a second of extra speed...total cobblers and you are too blind to see that statement for what it is.. arrogance from a cock!!!

Its YOU who has his head stuck up his arse and its YOU who cannot see (esp from there) and its YOU who is arrogant. You have absolutely no idea what has made the big difference at McLaren, but when you hear the say-so of one who is there, you are arrogant enough to dismiss him. So c'mon then, where is your info that the McLaren bod (Alonso) who's opinion you heard is wrong? Please do inform us. It is your arrogance that I find breathtaking, and those who are dumb enough to spout as you do.
These drivers that you all keep referring to arrogant cocks (and lets face it, absolutely nobody gets spared this crap), these are people who you don't know from Adam. Its unlikely that you've clapped eyes on them for any length of time if at all, you don't know them, you've never spent any time in their company. You have no knowledge of them outside of what you've read in a magazine. Yet here you all are arrogant enough to pass comment on them. Where on earth does this come from??!!
Its the sheer numptiness and stupidity of it all. Where on earth has this attitude come from, because not all that long ago it simply didn't exsist.
The vast majority of these drivers are fantastic sportsmen, who have god-given driving talents. They have such fantastic abilities that they might just as well breathe different air from the rest of us. Yet you guys treat them like... well, I dunno really, it must be part of the modern celebrity culture, yes, I think thats it, to you guys they are not sportsmen they are celebrities, to be hated and despised and treated with the same attitude as you might with somebody like Jade Goody.
Garyhun, you saw a small clip of an interview. You didn't see the proceedings and you didn't see the aftermath. You don't know what frame of mind Alonso was in, you don't know if he is friends or not with that particualar interviewer, you don't know if he made them laugh or not, you literally don't know anything. All you saw was one tiny snapshot of a particular time in a mans life, and the same goes for all of us.
And yet from that, not only are you arrogant enough to make announcements on a mans character and personality from 1 minute's worth of film, you breathtakingly and mind-blowingly STUPID enough to do so as well.
I am so glad that the internet didn't exsist back in the good old days. Mind you, people just weren't as dumb as they are in the dumbed down Britain of today, but nevertheless I have this fear that there could have been online conversations along the lines of "Did you see the way that Jim Clark put one foot in front of the other on the telly" "yeah, arrogant t
t". I mean, isn't there another website you guys could go to, called something like "everyonesatwat.com" where you could spend all day posting such witty comments as "Button - what a t
t" Raikkinen? - Twunt" "DC? w
r" and so on, and spare the bandwidth here?So back to that interview then Gary, are you saying that Alonso has brought nothing to the team? When he criticised last years car, (the record of which is openly clear) are you saying he's a liar? Bernie Ecclestone used to have the attitude that all the drivers were largely the same, you replaced them as you would a lightbulb, and he replaced Nelson Piquet with somebody like Derek Warwick and Brabham never won anything again.
The great drivers change things, they all do it. No-one ever won a championship in a crap car, and the great drivers either make their car the best or they gravitiate to the best car. It was ever thus. The really great ones like Fangio could win 4 championships in 5 different makes, but great drivers, and yes Alonso is but one of many, come along to a team and make a difference. McLaren won bugger all last year, so Kimi was swapped for Fernando and boy, what a difference. Lewis has contributed too, obviously, although it'd be interesting to know what he contributed to the McLarens of the recent past. I suspect we'll never know.
If Alonso believes he has contributed 6/10's of a second to its lap time, he is perfectly entitled to say so, perfectly entitled. If you think he is wrong Garyhun, then please by all means let us know why you think that, and what are your sources, cos we'd all be fascinated to know.
But if you've got nothing other than name calling, then you're either dumb or arrogant or both. Its up to you.

!!! If you read again the name calling was of Alonso..not you (and watching the interview I maintain he's a stupid cock!! There is a big difference between confidence and arrogance). Now if you are defending Alonso from my name calling maybe you potest too much. Why get so upset at my view -are you in love with him or something?
