For the 24hour Teams!

Just woundered how the teams that come on pistonheads are doing, any problems so far with cars or drivers, how has testing been going for any new teams?

Chris - we have had a full rebuild of the car from the ground up..all done by Geoff Steel Racing ! New engine and sequential gearbox, new suspension, brakes, diff, wiring loom...basically the whole car. It goes to the rolling road tomorrow and then we are testing next Wednesday at Silverstone GP circuit where new sponsor logos go on the car ready for the race.

We have our 4 drivers with Me and Steve (Bellly) who have raced the car all year, Michael Symons who is another Geoff Steel driver and Gareth Howell, Touring Car driver.

Im quite chilled at the moment, this year will see me on the pit wall again, and I'll try and update things on PH as I get time during the race...


I was tempeted by a couple of drives again this year, but my budget evaporated after the throttle jammed open at cadwell in the tuscan

I think Moore racing are running the Civic and the BMW again this year, there was talk of possibly running the Viper ( Their BGT car) instead but the cost and the fact there is a BGT round the same weekend put paid to that.


Apparently they've got me a nice shiney prat perch and even a stool this year ( that'll beat standing)...

Wow your car was quick all season sounds even better now,
do changes like that make a difference to the car, will it run better?
With more new parts on a car is it more likly things can go wrong or does it not make to much of a difference?
Congratulations on the championship win by the way and good luck at the test, im just a supporter so ill try come see the car down the pits on the friday or saturday!

We're doing okay. Haven't done as much running on Dunlops as we'd like, but we know the compounds well enough so it shouldn't be an issue.

Exhausts are our biggest concern - which is the same for everyone, I guess.

Are you working with the Eclipse Mosler,
how is the car havn't seen it much this season has it been doing much racing?
The exhausts that you use for the normal Britcar championship are they not 102Db then as many of the teams are talking about there noise problems?

We're almost ready, but still have a lot to do over the next few days. We'll have one of the cars running at Silverstone on Wednesday, the second will wait until Thursday.

I'm sure Kevin will update you on how the Jemco Racing Marcos is going - he tested all our new bits yesterday at Mallory

AS TM, Jemco's biggest concern off the track is sleeping arrangements and what beer to order for our outside bar! The former can be disrupted by the latter! (That doesn't sound right does it?!)

We are also sponsoring the Britcar 24H race weekend, and so look forward to seeing all clients (existing and future!) over the course of the weekend - both on and off the track.

And of course, as always we extend an invite to all Piston Headers to come along to Garage 2B to say hello and have a bit of banter.

Yep, with Eclipse. We race in BGT normally, where the noise limits are higher, so this is our first time with the LS7 at 102db (we had an LS2 last year).

Season so far has been full of promise and flashes of brilliance, with moments of unbelievable frustration. We missed Thruxton BGT last week to further prepare for the 24.

Yeah saw the eclipse at the BGT's at Silverstone a few weeks ago and was running at a quick pace looked good and the rollecentre car was running at the same pace so should be a good fight between you guys at the 24, spotted a third mosler on the entry list bet they'll be a good battle see who finishes highest!

We have replaced everything with identical parts so the car should be the same as it has been all season. The good thing is that we have a spare of everything should we need it. Since we (Geoff Steel) built the car over the winter we have done 36 hours of running on basically the same engine, gearbox, running gear etc. We are hoping with the new parts we will be able to do the same and finish the race with no problems.......here's hoping!!

The third car is a brand new one, run by Chad Racing (with Rollcentre helping out). With Vergers on the driving strength it'll be very quick, while Sean McInerney is becoming increasingly impressive this season in LMS in the Chad Panoz - at Spa he was right on the pace of the LNT cars.

I do some work for Chad as their engineer in LMS, Belcar and BTCS, so there's been an interesting conflict of interests in the run up to the 24!

Micheal Vergers he's the guy that did the super quick lap time round the nurbergring in the radical am i right? He should be good to watch. Yeah on the first entry list there was a panoz was that CHAD racings did they change to the Mosler?

Our little Honda is back again and ready to go. Drivers sorted with myself, Paul Collis (in his first 24hrs), Jonathan Ridley-Holloway (in his 3rd) and FWD legend Paul Taft along for 1 stint to allow sleep time and to keep me on my toes

We "tested" a few 24hr parts/upgrades a few weeks ago and the car is a little quicker this year courtesy of a sequential gearbox (I have been assured it will last or someone will be loosing a plum) and it should be easier on its rear tyres than last year.

Best off all though I have a Le Mans experienced team strategist to run things on the day. So unlike last years super intense experience I can relax a bit and enjoy it .

Oh yes and we have TJH Motorsport pit totty for Saturday ;-)

Last year Team TJH easily won the Britcar 24hr in terms of 'Glow in the Dark' display. It would be good to see some more competition this year.

The car is being chaved up next week with lots of new orange reflective stuff and we have grid girls this year to add some pre race glam!!
