I (and Graham) have spoken to JR about firming up the points regs (basically listing all the rules that have been envoked over the last season) and listing them for all to see, and developing the Full regs for all cars but mainly B & C.

all this is to develop closer racing after the success of JRs previous regs, saving the series and bringing in more new cars.

JR is happy to look at the regs amendments along the lines we have previously discussed on other threads (PTW) etc and draught them up for MSA/BRSCC formats.

Basically YES!

JR is ofcourse only interested in developing the series and the racing within it, and is also of the opinion that its time to move on, but doesn't want to impose regs on his drivers, so if we come up with the framewark that we like he will sort it.

He's right behind the process, but we need to sort it over the next two months, for next year.

Watch out for an email from Graham over the next week or so, out lining the proposed amendments they are not cast in stone! They are for all the listed drivers and competitors only!!! If you aren't running in the Challenge next year, then you don't need to comment! Also try and focus on your particular Group and let others worry about theirs. It will be difficult enough to collate all the info/replies so please keep it brief.

Finally, remember that this is a draught. It is for ALL of us to decide, it's not G's, H's or my version being imposed - Here's to 2008!

(another finally, Hui has also been working hard for the series with JR on these and other related matters, so thanks to "Humacher" too wink)

Andy,
New to the series as you know. Two months before we can go forward with the cars development. Fine for Class A cars, but late for B and C considering all was to be known soon after Brands. Not good for in-comers

Im hoping to get A proposal out by monday ( im at silverstone this weekend so cant do anything before that) Its currently being drafted between a representative group.

I'll ask for comments back within a week, if there is nothing other than minor tweeking I'll send that to John to cast his experienced Eye over it and if He is happy It will then be published.

When the proposal goes out Im really after a yay/nay rather than lots of alternative suggestions as I feel we've already been down that particular route. If we can get a general consensus on the proposals quickly then we could potentially have the regs out by the end of the month, otherwise it will drag on for month...

The outline is its the same as what we currently have with some policing involved and is p/w based for B and C with A staying as it is.

That does mean data loggers for B and some of C..

If the proposed drivers for next season PM me I will contact you directly to discuss, but Im only interested if you fully intend to compete next year.

Cheers

G

p.s. Points regs are another issue and not as time sensitive. I'll leave them to someone else, although I will offer guidance if asked tongue out

Hey mate,

once agreed (month or so) its just the MSA/BRSCC bit that'll take the time. You'll be fine when we've agreed what to run...which will be inside a month/couple of weeks i'd guess

New Class B car to be built with endurance racing in mind for 2008 season

Happy to go with whatever B regs proposed.
Give me a bell when you have compiled graham, although I hopefully will be down at Reidys in next 2 weeks. Car going into Build now

Its shit or bust for 2008 though I really dont have enough folding stuff for the car to be quick enough. I will just try to get out and make the numbers up. Hopefully I won't hold the faster guys up too much.

Proposal with John at the moment. He's the series Co-ordinator So needs to be happy with it and also sure that it fits in with msa championship guidelines.

A lot of work has gone into it so far and it is progressing it just takes a little time.

So still to go to the MSA/BRSCC "the part that take the time" as Andy suggested. Fine for class A, but the new season will be here soon and good engine builders seem to have no concept of time.

Come on guys, I need to know how long I have to go without food so I can pay my engine man. Low power/weight = food soon - bad thing as I need to loose weight....but then if I loose weight, the engine should in theory produce less power..I'm confused before we start and I still need to do my ARDS.

Given my weight concern...maybe the medical should be the first step?? hehe

John. You just need to extract as much power as possible out of the old tractor lump. assuming you are running a normally aspirated V6 in the ex John Kent car then I would think that Building too much power will be the least of your probs in Class C.

I cannot see any V6 engined car having too much power / weight in class C.

You may of course be dusting down an Ilmore V8 for all I knowwink

Croft have finished ARDS for this year.

Whole heartedly recommend Knockhill who have a few dates left prior to year end.

Now what makes you think I would run a N/A Essex engine??

Ilmore V8.....scratchchin.......................nah..too many cylinders, overweight tractor lump it is and an overweight useless (but happy) lump driving.

Was going to do the ARDS at Croft in the New Year.

Daftlad,

If you want to run class C then you have a limit of 175 BHP per ton at the wheels.

And unless your running a NA essex v6 then your need a data logger.

What car and engine are you planning to run.

3000M with a N/A Essex V6. Where did you get that confirmed? Do I need to register somewhere??

Hi John,

your need to register a racing number with
John read
Telephone: 0779 911 7211 Fax: 01253 398341

Also the info I got from Graham was
Class C = upto 3ltr with an engine tvr used
or
3-4litre v8 running data logger limited to 175
bhp/ton at the wheels
or
sub 3litre forced indudion data logger limited to
175bhp/ton at the wheels

Class B = Over 3litre and between 176 and 300 bhp/ton at the wheels
all cars need data logger other than cars running
3-4 litre rover v8 based models.

IMHO I think the 2.9 v6 24v cars should be limited to 175 bhp/ton at the wheels also. and only the Essex 2.8 be the only car not having to run a data logger. or the upto 4ltr Class B. to allow for low cost entry.
