After watching the race from Spa late last night, it was good to see KR celebrating the win with a smokey donut before he proceeded to parc ferme and the podium ceremony. Martin Brundle admited that its the sort of thing he would like to see more of, as would most of us I bet, and then want on to say that it was not allowed.
Does anyone know whether it is actually against the rules for F1 drivers to celebrate a win in this way, or is it that they are so finnickey about picking up extra rubber weight from the marbles that they wouldn't want to scrub extra off with doing this sort of thing.
We see it in plenty of other forms of motorsport, especially the American series, and rather fittingly I can remember Colin McRae doing some particularly impressive 4wd donuts after one rally win years back. Am I alone in thinking it would be good to see the F1 drivers celbrating in this way more often?

If its Ferrari its ok , all others will be penalised Article 6

Gilles Panizzi sounds a bit Italian and may therefore be related to Ferrari. Henning Solberg sounds a bit Scandinavian and at the time therefore a bit like a McLaren driver. Therein Sir, lies the consistency you seek. IIRC, the practice was banned after a couple of incidents in other formulae where other cars ploughed in to other cars avoiding the doghnut spinning winner.rustybin said:

Aren't donuts and burn outs banned because of those silly grooved tyres they are forced to use and some rule about there having to be so much groove left to be legal, or else it's classified as a racing slick?
Although I've seen lots of these grooved tyres worn right down, but never any penalties applied.
Perhaps with a single tyre manufacturer now they could bring back racing slicks, harder compounds to make them only as good as the current grooved tyres and allow victory donuts and stop being such bloody minded boring old fools. Plus it will make even the slightest drop of rain even more of a decision to stay out on slicks or come in to change.
