I could not believe the verbal attack that Max has made on the 3 times World Champion...

Does the paddack really think he's (Jackie) is an idiot?

What history is there between Mad Max and Jackie then?

Haven't heard this. Where was this attack made, is there a link?

Mosley also apparently poked fun at Stewart's tartan trousers and caps, adding: "He goes round dressed up as a 1930s music hall man. He's a certified halfwit."

Please let JYS sue him yes

Max sold Ken Tyrrell a dodgy motor years ago and Jackie spent all year convincing Ken to get rid of it. Although Jackie won a race in it, Max must have marked their cards then. A few years later Max helped stitch Ken up then took all the credit for making the sport safer.*

  • This is all of course wild speculation. Or is it?

Max wasn't very successful as either a driver or team owner. That's why he dislikes Jackie Stewart/Ron Dennis/Frank Williams*

1969 Stewart drives a Matra for Ken Tyrrell, wins the championship. In 1970 Jackie drives a March (Mosley's company) chassis for Tyrrell but only finishes 6th in the Championship. In 1971 Stewart drives a Tyrrell chassis and dominantly wins the championship. Obviously Stewart told March (Mosley) the car was rubbish and could prove it by results.

Unless of course he took technical details from the March car into the new Tyrrell and made them reliable.

Ohh I'm on dodgy ground here so I'd better be a little careful....

Lets put this way, the Scottish Gentleman is not well regarded in certain quarters of motorsport. He is very sure of himself and his views on any subject. Great driver and all that, legend in the sport its just that he doesn't win friends and influence people.

Unless of course, they're royalty....whistle

If for your entire life you had lived with the shame of your parents' being two of the most despised people in British history, you might end up rather bitter and twisted.
You loved your parents, so you would probably hate the people who hated them.

Drop into that scene Jackie and Ron: two guys who by background are normal folks - the sort who were the most likely to revile Oswald and Diana Mosley.
Jackie and Ron are Max's generation.
Jackie and Ron made the mistake of being, each in his own discipline, the single most successful and respected Britons at the things which Max tried his hand at but was found inadequate: race driving and building a racing team.
Jackie and Ron are guys with backbone who won't be pushed around by self-important windbags.

It's no surprise that they seem to have been singled out as targets.

So you are saying that on nearly all fronts (except the driving perhaps) it is just a clash of similar personalities?

Seems a little odd for someone of Mosley's experience and position to decide to deliver such a personal attack especially at this time. Or it would do if it was anyone but Mosley.

I think its rare for people at that level of office to do anything without motive and forethought Im sure Mosley is doing what he's doing for specific reasons, rather than just mouthing off..

yes

Max, Bernie, Ron, Jackie et al are all very big boys playing with very expensive toys and have been doing so for many, many years.

Like them or loathe them they are very, very successful at what they do. NOTHING they say on the record can be taken at face value. Everything must be considered in the light of a far bigger picture, 98% of which most will never know the details of and only a few percent more have a small insight into.

There are bigger games afoot.

Basically yes and also a clash of very large egos.

I know he's supposed to be a hotshot lawyer and everything but I was very surprised by Mosleys comments because it sounds to me like they're libelious.

Maybe he knows something about JYS that the Scotsman wouldn't want in the public domain and so therefore feels he can say things without fear of a lawsuit...whistle

I knew nothing of his parents, quick google and it's quite an eye opener. Certainly obvious where his level of arrogance comes from.

Are you lot all the same as your parents then? My folks are great (as am I obviously) but we are utterly, utterly different.

No of course not ALL people take after their parents, but some do and some in an uncanny way. Max has always struck me (via his public profile at least) as a rather arrogant character filled with self belief, much like say Lord Black but operating in a different arena. Reading things like these about his parents kinda struck a chord, that is all:

"Diana Mosley, wife of Sir Oswald Mosley, is reported on the 'best authority', that of her family and intimate circle, to be a public danger at the present time. Is said to be far cleverer and more dangerous than her husband and will stick at nothing to achieve her ambitions. She is wildly ambitious."

"He soon distinguished himself as an orator and political player, one marked by extreme self-confidence"

I am a firm holder of the belief that the sins of the parents should not be visited on the children. It is their legacy which has denied him the ability to run for true political office, something I think he would have excelled at. It does appear though that Max has inherited many similar traits to his parents, although not their Politics, obviously.

I was a long time supporter of MM’s, especially when he first got the job but have grown increasingly disillusioned with his machinations.

Of course we are not "the same" as our parents - but our parents will have influenced our lives significantly. Perhaps Max did a 180 from his parents views and rebelled against them. What I think some are suggesting is that his actions indicate he may well have been heavily influenced.

I think this says it all, espcially the very last video smile

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2007/06/28/ten-videos-m...

Max your a total waste of space now, F1 needs fresh blood at the top.

How about Ron steps aside to allow Martin to take control and Ron stands for FIA President in 2009, then we might actually get something done and know that it was done honestly...

The issue isn't who his parents were, or even if he inherited anything in particular in his DNA. None of that would be his fault; indeed, he would be a victim.

The issue is whether the way he himself chooses to behave resembles the reprehensible attitude and conduct that his parents endorsed and practised.
