Will Prodrive be in F1 2008?

With respect to the last paragraph they will get around this the same way redbull got around this, by the parent company int he redbull case Redbull technology limited or what ever it is called supplying both teams. Mclaren and Prodrive will do the same, the chassis will be designed and made by Mclaren Technologies or Composites and sold to both Mclaren Racing and Prodrive.

I hope they are able to race, but the FIA are so inept/crooked/useless/biased/ (delete as appropriate, or use all of them) I would not put it past them making a total hash of it and declaring anything to do with Mclaren illegal. Of course if Ferrarsi want to have a junior team then the matter would have be cleared up long ago.

Not sure about the 'rules' as such but I think the Concorde Agreement pretty much states what can and cannot happen in F1.patmahe - Especially if Bernie is in favor.

If that is the case, then technically, both McLaren & Prodrive will be customers......?M3MTH said:
If prodrive will share alot of mclaren's chassis, data, parts etc, what about loaning out Alonso to them?! that way he's not in the same team as such but still under a mclaren contract if they are part of the same group 
this has been discussed on here several times...................id say him and sutil in the prodrive cars and button and hamilton in the "sister" full works mcmerc

Sadly I have to agree with you.Difficult to know what might happen here - the Prodrive entry was awarded to them after submissions by many parties to "win" the 12th team slot and as far as I remember was to go along with the new Concorde Agreement which would start in 2008. This being the same Concorde Agreement that teams signed up for once the GPMA folded. The way I see it, Prodrive have an entry for 2008 based on an agreement which would allow customer chassis at that stage, but as they were not previously part of the CA they have no influence on the final wording, but have been working towards being ready for the first race of 2008 based on what they were told. Presumably, if they have been in discussion with McLaren about buying a chassis/engine packaged from them McLaren also understood it to be the case that customer chassis would be allowed. Who might be seeking compensation from whom if Prodrive are not able to join in next year? Prodrive for loss of the investment they have made, or the FIA claiming a fine from Prodrive for not turning up when they should be on the grid?
I agree with PJS917 too - not difficult to think that objections are coming from Italy as they don't want to end up behind two teams using McLaren chassis next year, that would never do and therefore Jean Toadt etc. are no doubt throwing spanners into works. Had David Richards got an agreement with them, however.....

edited to stir it up a bit..... the original RB1 was the previous years Ferrari, that Red Bull purchased the manufacturing rights to, hence they owned the design and were there fore the manufacturers or some such nonsense. I think Prodrive will be there , The deal would help out Macs on the money side and would have Pits along side one another. Also it will be another team Money contribution to !The keeping the Ferrari Tradition alive on the Grid Fund!.
How long much longer do all the other teams have keep paying out to have them on the grid.
If Macs had have been banned i wonder where the Vodaphone money would have gone?
