How are Vipers allowed to race? 8.3 litre engine...

I thought 8 litres was the maximum capacity allowed in any GT competition? Or have the rules changed? Also, are the Vipers now as quick as those that raced in GT2? I am out of touch with GT racing completely.

Stick a huge air restrictor in them that reduces power down to under 500bhp (significantly less than everyone barr the 911's), leave them running the standard road car gearbox and gearing (meaning we never got out of 4th gear, even at Thruxton!), raise the ride hight and add lots of weight and you begin to understand...

The 8litre rule is an ACO rule and not FIA. Different series have different rules (e.g. ADAC in Germany is maximum 6.2litres)

Ahhh ok. I know Le Mans maximum Naturally Aspirated engine size is 8 litres, 4 litres turboed....or at least it was a few years back.
