Pitpass.com has posted a very thoughtful essay by the veteran motor racing journalist Mike Lawrence.
He begins and finishes it with his reflections on the Italian culture and mentality generally, of which he is quite fond, and on Ferrari specifically.
In between, Lawrence addresses some pointed questions to Max Mosley, with reference to a few little-known incidents in the man's motor sport past.
If you've wondered whether Mosley really was what he smelled like, the essay's worth a read.

Between this Lawrence essay and the revelations in Nigel Stepney's letter to Mosley, also published on 4th October, it's apparent that things are even worse than one thought.eek

That's a great potted history of F1 and a very insightful feature. Where would we be without Italians... eh?

I disagree fundamentally with one of Lawrence's points. Ferrari do not have their own rule book.

Mind you, I agree that they don't have any other one either.

Mike's writtings are truly amusing, The man has a great insight and knowledge, it's a shame ITV don't employ some one that is aware that F1 has a history beyond the last couple of races...

I've never read anything from him before - very interesting and insightful.

And quite funny - he has a point about the Italian way of life hehe

As for Ferrari, well my opinions are well known.

Blimey, even by ML's standards that's pretty harsh. All hail the freedom of the press!

My favourite part was where Mosley told him to edit out the quote regarding the Liechtenstein bank accounts.
