I remember the story but can not remember the driver's name.

What time period are you referring to? If it's recently do you mean Kimi retiring in Monaco and going straight to his yacht moored in the harbour?

but it isnt one of the existing drivers
I think perhaps 10+ years ago
And I recall the circuit was European

I was thinking Irvine or Alesi.

I seem to recall Alesi retiring from the lead at Monza due to a messed up pit stop, then going straight to the nearest non-ferrari road car and leaving. Rapidly.

I believe that when senna ceashed out of Monaco, he was so upset he went to his hotel/apartment, and no-one saw him for the rest of the day.

Earlier this year Kimi retired and left early- long before the race had finished. I remember it on TV, showing him getting into a minibus with a driver

He wouldn't have needed a helicopter to go from circuit to apartment in Monaco though

Nope, all you getting is that he was sacked from one team in mysterious circumstances, which when you know his problems suddenly makes sense.

No, its not him. He was driving after they brought in drug testing which I think was 1990.

There are so very strong rumours that one driver, who seemed to drive for virtually every team on the grid during the eighties, suffered from epilepsy and was only kept on the grid by his rich daddy who ran one of the tobacco companies.....

Said it before, no names, no pack drill. You aint seen me, right....
