Is Formula 1 Fixed ?

So, the circus moves onto yet another last race decider and gripping climax for the season finale. Wow, those television audience figures in two weeks time will be good with three drivers going for the championship.

Is it me, or does this feel more like a show than a sport ? How many times in recent years has the drivers championship gone to the last race ?

I just don't believe it anymore.......

But that has more to do with the points system - finish second and you drop two points and the general reliability from rev-limited and largely standardised engines.

I still think the whole sport is being stage managed over the course of the whole season to produce a close finish. In recent years I can recall final race deciders between Schuey and Damon, Schuey and Villeneuve, Schuey and Alonso. Can't remember if Scheuy and Hakkinnen were the same.

I dont think anyone would deny that the FIA have in the past made decisions that have influenced the championship outcome but to even suggest that Hamilton was scripted to bin it to create a staged finish in Brazil is quite funny really.

It's definitely less of a sport now and heading towards "sports entertainment". The FIA are convoluting the title race to make it more media-friendly under the veil of 'enforcing the rules'. The fact they think no-one has noticed is indicative of the type of scumbags that are in charge of F1 these days.

How long before we have off-track storylines and trash-talking interviews, like the WWE? Oh, hang on...

The race after a judgement goes against them, which would have altered the WC standings and would have therefore ruined Bernies stagemanaged finish to the season, suddenly both cars finish in the points and they blitz their supposed sister team (which they are always one step behind on devlopments.)....

Anyone check the (FIA supplied) rev limiters??

Have to agree with you, the FIA do tend to manage the championship. It really is the WWF of motorsport now, I was a huge F1 fan, but I don't get excited by it any more. I would rather wash the car

Of course not!! Not unless Kimi has binned it already. The red team would never allow Massa to win unless it is already all over for Kimi. Unlike McLaren who for all of their problems at least allow their drivers to compete (although I imagine they'd rather not at the moment!)

It will be half fixed next year when they ban TC and will be fully fixed (as far as is possible) when the new 'overtaking cars' are introduced in 2009.

McLaren ballsing up their pit strategy was beyond even Bernie's fixing.

Bernie wants Lewis to win, McLaren want Lewis to win, today wasn't in the script.

Of course, if Kimi and Alonso are brought in front of the stewards for ignoring yellow flags or something equally debatable... now that would be fixing the result, Bernie-style.

I did wonder about stage managing today as obviously it is great for the viewing figures in a couple of weeks for Brazil. However, if it was managed then someone didn't tell Ron Dennis as i am pretty sure he is not a good enough actor to display all those emotions on the pit wall when Lewis got stuck. Mind you, I was doing pretty much the same as him at the time.

So long as the promise was, Lewis has to not score in China, but we will make sure he wins the championship then I will be happy!
