Are we really at the end of the season already ? Where's JB
Discussion
What a fantastic season. Its flashed by.
LH, how good is he ?
Not to forget Massa. Looked at first a bit of a raspberry, but how he's picked up his game, stunning.
The new young drivers, Kovaleinen, Nico, and the emporers clothes now apparent on some of the others.
The Stepneygate saga, wow.
Its nearly gone, Im really looking forward to the action this week-end!
In the blink of an eye, its going to be that barren in between season time.
2007 season, its flashed by.
Last year we had a spirited thread "Button for World Champion 2007"
Mega spirited thread.
I was going to bump it up, however reading through it, Id prefer to view it in a different light.
Jenson B.
Where is he ?
His recent performances give the impression he's getting faster.
But Honda always "get hold" of their car late, and maybe overdevelop it, and in not concentrating as much with next years car, slump when its introduced.
What are Honda actually doing to get this team up the grid ?
I'd really like to see Jenson push on, could he get Alonso's drive and show how fast he really is ?
Of course Honda would wet themselves if they could get Alonso in return.
The kind of disjointed thinking Id expect from Brackley.
Quick fix.... not.
Where is Jenson, and what are his options ?

Strange isn,t it ? sometimes when you see a new f1 car unveiled you just know its going to be a winner and on the other side of the coin...the livery really shouldn,t be an issue but it certainly seemed to be a "hex" for Honda this year , some cars that always looked right from out of the box...McLaren MP4 (Watson) , Ferrari 641 (Mansell) , Lotus 76 (Andretti) all of these looked stunning and had great lines and good liveries , can,t think of an Arrows or Alfa Romeo F1 car that looked right so did any F1 car "win ugly" , a Brabham maybe ?
Button will stay put, as will Alonso IMHO.
As for what Honda are doing - they're taking a very different approach to next year's car. The one that the engineers at Brackley wanted to but for whatever reason weren't allowed to. I have high hopes, but perhaps I'm just being optimistic being a JB fan and having a friend who works at the factory.

personally, I feel JB will sit it out at Honda. He doesn't need the bad press he got when buying himself out of the williams contract again.
But JB and LH in McLaren, that would be great for us British, but not for the sponsors, ie british car, and british driver line up, would only interest the british.
I do think JB has had a cracking season given the dog of a car he's beed driving, and next year we have no traction control, and that may make his stock even higher, and who knows, McLaren or even Ferrari may know on his door for 2009.

The informed presses opinion (Autosport and Motorsport News, as opposed to the brit bashing tabloids) is that JB has had a very good year considering his car, and that this has not gone unnoticed within the pit lane.
Aye, I've heard nothing but praise from the people who know what they're talking about. Consensus is he's driving better than he did last year and Honda would really miss him if he went.Last year I said that if Honda provided him with a good car, he'd stand a very good chance considering the lack of stability in the top teams from the driver moves. Now looking at the top two teams, they've been neck and neck all year, which is why Massa has been in contention for so long - he's the only one of the four who has stayed in the same seat.
I can see JB & Alonso satying where they are next year. In 2009 Alanso moves to Renault to reply Fisi and JB to Mclaren.
An all British line up would attract large British companies as sponsors, British Airways (I've heard mentioned), Virgin etc etc.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking..............

For what it's worth my 2 penny-worth of rumour is that Honda eased the round eyed engineers (who knew what they were about) sideways and replaced them with Japanese engineers who designed the last car.
Also Honda seem to have lost out in the HP stakes as the car is not even quick at the speed traps, let alone going around corners. A few years ago they had one of the most powerful engines around.
How much did it cost JB and/or his sponsors (incl. Honda) to buy him out of the Williams contract ? I've heard that ran to about $20mil ? Comments ?
