It's a sad sign of how things are these days when an old repeat film, and X Factor get screened in favour of coverage from the deciding round of the F1 World Championship. One which a Briton has been in a position to claim for the first time in over 10 years.

X Factor - Pile of shite too. Wouldn't be so bad if it was the World Cup Final or something!!

Does your sky+ box pick up the qualifying when it moves channels?.. my V+ box doesn't seem to be able to cope with that, so must remember to set it up!

sky+ will just record a programme. So if it runs over or changes channel I am FUBAR'd.

You could always record the programme after just in case

I don't see why ITV4 is seen as lowly.

Is the picture quality lower, do you get "snow" or "grainy" pics on your telly? No?

Is your sound distorted? No?

Or is it that ITV can sell the advertising space on ITV4 easier for the petrolheads as the target audience to "Dogsbody Car Insurance", or "Ambulance Chasers R Us".

It matters not whether it's ITV1,2,3 or 4 if you have your DVB-T or DVB-S system, just so long as it's on L I V E.

It won't be long before there's ITV5 & 6 to make up for the possibility that there won't be a BBC3 or 4 soon with the cuts they're going to make!
It'll be BBC1 and BBC1 (they'll be doing a lot of repeats!)

I made this point last time this topic came up. Who cares what channel it is on, you at least see it (and live as well!) We have been "lucky" lately as they now usually show highlights of qualifying "sometime", usually around 1 or 2 am, wherever the GP is coming from So stop complaining that "you have to change channel"...

Qualifying is desperately dull, you watch cars going round for an hour for the novelty of the last two minutes where everyone suddenly finds another second per lap and the top four wil be some configuration of two silver cars and two red cars....

Yes, ITV4 is on freeview.

Hmm...will have to try it when I get there later - last year he could see the channel but there was no picture (if that makes sense?) and it looked to be subscription or something? His digital reception is pretty borderline because of the geography of the area.

Take a cheap signal aplifier (and coax lead) with you, it used to make the diference between nothing and seeing OK in my last place.

James Purnell: The current availability of Freeview is restricted in much of the constituency because of the local terrain which means that, until switchover, the local transmitter at Winter Hill can only broadcast signals at low strength. At switchover, I expect the power of these signals to be increased significantly.

Similarly, Winter Hill carries Channel 5 at a reduced power compared to the first four channels, and the areas reliant on the relay transmitter network will not be able to receive it until switchover.
