Hot Tubs

This morning Mr Leith sent me a link to a portable hot tub on ebay

This obviously is far more important than any 2008 Britcar regulations, but, i need some help with getting the water to 40 degrees quickly.

A 13 amp socket can only produce just over 3Kw and therefore 450 litres of water is going to take too long to heat up.

Clearly we want to arrive in the motorhomes, grab a beer and be sat in the hot tub within 30 minutes.

Anyone got any ideas?

Bellly - I spoke to the guy and it takes 24 hours to heat up depenent on ambient temp. So, I will send Clive to the circuit with the motorhome on the Wednesday afternoon. He can get motorhome plotted up, erect hot tub and fill it, and turn it on. We arrive Thursday afternoon with Thai dancing girls to cold beer, hot water, and hotter girls. Who cares if the regs are policed !!!!

How about one of these Jet powered beer cooler with a 500deg c exhaust temp I'm sure some fancy exhaust piping through the tub would sort it. There's no noise limit on hot tubs is there!!

That would serve two purposes using the exhaust gas to heat the hot tub whislt cooling any warm beer!

I have emailed him asking if he can send us one!

As he seems to be a really clever chap, he may even be able to tell us how the powerloggers work

A err... friend of mine took a hot tub to a race at Silverstone some time ago. If you locate you tub opposite garage 11 you might find there is a suitable power supply which his electrician arranged via the 3 phase supply


In answer to your question you`ll need to leave overnight with the cover on.

Currently in a very bad place after a most remarkable evening at the Landmark Hotel in London / Cafe Royal aftershow party. Very bizzare and had to keep pinching myself, (then gave up & got slaughtered).

Shh, keep the noise sown and the lights off please.

Tell you what, I'm 6' 4" and a shade over 24stone (It's coming of though, honest!) If I get in the hot tub then there will be a whole lot less water to heat, resulting in a quicker heating time!

Know how you can get those radiators with the auto transmission coolers in them? What if you setup something like that (obviously it'd need to be larger volume), pumped the hot tub water through the heated water with the engine idling, then when it's up to temp switch over to the electric?
