The way I read it, It looks like 200,000 Euro's to buy the car enter the races and run it for a year so thats about 150,000 GBP 
If that looks cheap to you, do you want to sponsor my Tuscan for a season... you probably spend more on champers on a friday night than I spend all season ...

I'm not quite sure what role it fills, for not much more money surely an aspiring GT or touring car driver would be better off making a name for theselves in their national championship.
For affordable racing in Europe probably worth looking at the Caterham Eurocup, especially with a Roadsport class again next year.

Fairly new around here so don't 'flame' me!
I have raced Radicals (clubsport up to SR3) from 2001 - 2004 (we were competive, my brother had 2 championship wins & 2 2nd places in those years) and we did not spend anywhere near the amounts others were spending. My brother was the only Brit in the Spider 207's this year. Did not have any results to speak of, 3rd at the last round was the best result, this was mainly due to very poor reliability, (not suffered by those who did more testing). He finished 7th in the championship. Very poor really, compared to how well he went in Radicals. I can categorically say that it was by far and away the best year's motor racing we have ever had. We know he is not going to be an F1 driver, but in terms of enjoyment, racing at Monza, supporting th LMES, or at Pau (how many street circuits in this country eh?) supporting the WTCC, we had a ball. Cheap? Definitely. We run the car ourselves and trailer it around, after all the prize money (not to mention the XBox 360's and serious watches won at the Saturday night cocktail parties!), excluding the cost of the car & trailer, we are on a profit this year. The cars may be ugly, they are actually only a bit slower than an SR4, but we cannot praise the series enough. The support from Peugeot has been phenomenal, and they promote it (in Europe anyway) in the most professional manner I have ever seen. Believe it or not, most Sunday morning races were shown live on Motors TV, and the following week there was a dedicated 1/2 hour highlights show.

Ah, from flicking through the pdf it wasnt obvious that you could run the motor your self, how do the costs stack up if you do it that way, obviously the cost of the car and the entry fee's are fixed, but what about running it ect versus prizes etcHello
The championship was 7 rounds this year, and off the top of my head I think the running costs, including travel etc. were approximately £17k and we won about £19k (for coming 7th!!!) Our accomodation is a motorhome. I am sure someone will try and disect those costs,and like I say they are off the top of my head, but after years of spending tens of thousands of pounds, the 207 Spider series is a 'no-brainer' (for us!). For some reason, racing in Europe just seems better, we can't wait until next year!
