are these http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/item.asp?id=153&catid=5  any good?

I am looking for a cheap effective way of checking toe in/out before each race. Also required is a tyre scribe http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/item.asp?id=154&catID=5 . Does any body have any experience of these. I am guessimg that they are crap, and that i'll have to go the whole hog and get a second hand dunlop tracking gauge or something. but if somebody has experience of these please let me know what you though of them? such as accuracy, ease of use etc etc. can you actually track up the car with them, or can you only tell if the tracking is out...?

yeah, can recommend fishing wire and some metal poles, a cheap and simple solution and still works well

Yup, 'Stringing' is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of getting your cars tracking sorted. If you know what your doing if can be very accurate.

Stringing is far better than using a single gauge type setup, including the dunlop gauges. The main benefit is it stops you having a crabbing car, with the single axle gauge setups you can have perfect toe front/rear, but some offset from the centre line between front/rear. The latest laser gauges that measure the rear and front together are much better, but bulky to take to the circuit.

I had a problem using the Dunlops on my Boxster fitted with sports suspension and factory body kit. We had to put some blocks under the front wheels as it was to low to see thru the lense.

If you see that setting up a parallogram around the car is too much hassle you should make some kind of fixture that mounts to a hardpoint on the car!

That way you can just connect it up, and away you go!
