Italian Grand Prix 2008

Hi all,
Just a request for some help really. Me and my best mate are looking to go to the italian grand prix this year and i was hoping that there were people out there who have attended before and could just give me some helpful tips as to the best travel/ hotels or other accommodation / any useful info?
I have been to Milan a fair few times in the past and i know that Monza isn't far from Milano but just wondered how good the trains are to Monza etc when the F1 is on? Is the track walkable from the station in Monza?
Any help would be good, it is always helpful? Went to Spa a couple of years back and people who had been before saved us time and money with advice.

Easy to get to, it's still inside Milan and surrounded by villages occupied by noise abatement protesters and eco-weeners so there's plenty of tree friendly buses, trains and walking routes

You can't really walk from Monza station to the circuit, but there is a bus that goes into Milan from right outside the circuit gates. Add on a short stint on the metro and you'll be right in the heart of Milan.
Accomodation wise there's a campsite right at the gates of the circuit (you can see the track through the fence at the back). The facilities are extremely basic and it's a case of grabbing whatever space you can find, but it's cheap. Last time I was there was 2001 and the place was full of Herr Schumachers fans playing terrible German F1 songs all night.
There's a restaurant nearby called Cliche that some friends took us too (they live opposite the track so know the area well).
The track 'invasion' is organised at the end of the race, so if you fancy walking the circuit don't disappear too quickly afterwards.
We had a grandstand ticket for the prima variante for qualifying and the parabolica for the race. Prima variante would be a better spot for the race, at the parabolica you just see them flying by at full pace - not much passing there. I don't know whether the general admission passes are a good thing at Monza or not. We got a general pass at the Malaysian GP and it was 40gbp for 3 days and you could see 75% of the circuit from where we were, not sure whether you'd get the same value and view at Monza though as it's flatter.

We are thinking of Getting Grandstand tickets for Prima Variante which is first chicane! Found good prices and thought that general admission wouldn't be great at Monza because of the trees and flat track. General admission was great at Spa because of the track and we jumped the fence for the track walk at the end which i sadly missed at Silverstone!

That's exactly where we were in 2005. Not sure about turbosei's advice above regarding the station - we got a free train from Milan right to the circuit. Train/Bus to Milan
Stay in city centre (Michelangelo is my preference as it's right next to the station)
Train out to the Circuit (free) then bus the rest of the way (free).
Sorted. We hired a car but only used it to get to the airport and back. Really nice GP to go to, lovely atmosphere. We had grandstand seats at the start of the back straight, seats are reserved so you can wander around too. Go and look for the old circuit banking, it's well worth it.
