Graham. Do i remember rightly seeing a roof tend on your landy? thinking about an Autohome Columbus to mount on a low rack across the bed of my L200 for the season, What make was yours?

a) very comfy
b) take 30 secs to put up when you get there
c) takes 2 mins to pack away

Remember most of us are doing this on a shoe string, and the extra cost of staying in a hotel would push us over the limit. every spare penny we get we spend on the cars. even if it means sleeping in a wheelie been.

surely a 2 or 3 man tent has to be easier, much cheaper less drag on your car and people wont point and laugh when you get in your normal tent.

plus, every time you move, the car is gonna move making it feel very odd id guess.

Don't forget we purchase with a very specific requirement in mind. I need something that is very quick to put up and take down and on my L200 doesn't take up tool space in the bed of the truck. plus in paddocks there isn't always grass to pitch a tent at.

the last thing we want to worry about when arriving at a race meeting is where we are sleeping.

To setup when I get to the paddock takes about, 30 seconds, you can pitch it anywhere i.e. in the ca r park outside silverstone when they wont let you in till morning !!!!

Its a lot comfier and warmer than a tent... and a lot more stable in high winds...

ok they are a lot more expensive than a cheap tent from millets, but its all about ease of use, and it works just great for me...


Also if you camp somewhere like Pembrey, chances are your going to wake up in a swimming pool in a normal tent, as its always raining and the grass always floods when its raining...
