And Alan Donnelly (former Labour member and current Ferrari PR manager) will make the process of fixing races all the more easier for Mosley and I love the charging drivers £1488 per point that they win only in F1 as if they don't make enough money !!

I don't actually think Lewis will have as easy a ride as Micheal did.
Lewis won't be the only driver to enter F1 from very carefully structured and monitored development.
The standard of drivers throughout the whole F1 grid is going to be much tougher in future.
This of course will make the competition much tougher for Lewis.

The journeyman driver with a pocket full of sponsorship may no longer be de rigeur in F1.

I think the teams value more and realise that results are important.
Most of the teams are car manufacturers now rather than private teams making independent chassis where any major sponsor could apply.
Toyota as a car maker don't want people seeing Toyota playing catch up.
There is also no point bringing in a rich kid with 20million in sponsorship if your team then finishes last in the championship and you don't get a share of Bernies end of season bonuses.

Renault and Red Bull haven't exactly been showered with F1 grade drivers as a result of their carefully structured programmes and I can't come up with a driver that has been groomed in the same way as Lewis. Can you?

There realy isn't a big pool of talented experienced drivers out there and I think we are several years away from seeing whether a driver such as Mike Conway could cut it in F1. The pity is that people such as Tim Bridgeman are having to turn their backs on single seaters for the longer term career prospects that tin-tops or sportscars provides. The financial step-up from, say FRenault to GP2 is huge and how many drivers can come up with £1m for a GP2 seat? Even FPA isn't really all that cheap, but perhaps offers a decent stage to demonstrate one's talent.

Certainly as the smaller teams are bought by oligarchs, industrialists and the likes, so the need for pay drivers reduces. What will the FIFI driver line-up look like in 2009 for example? Mallya has shown that he isn't a pushover in terms of running Indian drivers in his team - Karthikeyan isn't going to get a shot, but Chandhok probably will.

Re my point above. If you have bottomless pockets, why should you actually be bothered about Bernie's transport money? Does Vijay really want to compete with Ferrari and Mclaren, or is he content to use FIFI as a vehicle to promote India and perhaps further his political ambitions?
