Could well be the lack of traction control will help Kimi go quicker on the fast flowing circuits but he did have the place to himself apart from a couple of Panasonic chicanes.

Why do Ferrari insist on not testing with all the other teams?

I wouldn't get too excited just yet, its a quick lap but the 1:32.4 that Autosport are comparing it against is the Q3 pole time of Massa when he had fuel on board, he actually went over a second quicker than that in Q2 with no fuel on according to Formula1.com, so if Kimi was also fairly light on fuel for that lap time today, its actually around 6/10ths difference so not quite as impressive as theyve made it sound.

...and according to someone on the Autosport forums, Massa actually did a 1:29.9 during last year's equivalent test in Bahrain, so they're currently about 6/10ths slower at the moment. There was also unconfirmed mentions of the current tyre being softer than what they used there last year.

Don't know how much of that is true, but it shows that there's almost always a bit more to the story than the headline!

Seriously though, he couldn't against Kimi. However, Alonso probably CAN do 0.6s better than the average driver on the grid in the same car.

I know he was a bit of a prat last season, but the Alonso bashing needs to stop. It's getting very childish.

Good ploy... other teams can have no way of gaging their progress against the F2008. All they get are timings -usually good- an no way of competing against them. Anyaway the proof will be out there for all to see in a few weeks. Redwash me thinks.
