It would make it a better spectator event, but weren't stones thrown during a WRC stage a year or so back?

It's rarely run the same route twice, in fact it's no longer referred to as the Paris-Dakar as it doesn't always start in Paris...

Would be interesting to see the "Dakar" run on a new continent but perhaps it could do with a different name; Dakar Series South America or something more PR tasty. Certainly there is as much scope in South America for varied terrain with the bonus of it being more stable than Africa.

They'll have to come up with a good shipping deal to attract as many privateers as previous Dakar events have attracted though.

I was reading the article in EVO about the Transsyberia Rally - that would make a good open event along similar lines to the Dakar too.

Whatever happens I'm looking forward to seeing how the Bowler Nemesis does up against Mitsubishi and VW...

I think a Nemesis is more a way of taking part than competition for the works teams. The back up required to challenge the works teams requires millions rather than £100,000 or so to do the event.

Looking at the components I would say the Nemesis should be stronger and more reliable than the Wildcat, which should lead to good reliability.
