I am rather disappointed that the ACO have only chosen 10 GT1 cars given the tradition they have for trouncing the LMP2 cars in the overall results.....

I dunno, that looks like quite a blanceed list. Is that still the test day list that will be whittled down further?

I also heard they had the biggest ever entry list this year.

I think it pretty much covers every competitive GT1 (that submitted an entry). No point having other cars there making up numbers. In fact the Lamborghini probably is just there for variety, I don't think it will be competitive.

The problem is that at least 10 of the LMP1 / LMP2 cars will fall apart / crash etc. early in the race due to the cars being ill prepared or rubbish drivers.

This means of the 55 starters you are then down by about 20%, whereas if there were more GT1 cars which have beaten the LMP2 cars overall for each of the last few years, the race would be more exciting as there would be more cars completing.

Why are two of the Audis entered under Audi Sport North America and one under Audi Sport Team Joest? I take it Joest runs the factory team in ALMS and at Le Mans?

There is a limit of two cars per team, and the name is just the way of getting round this. As they are all factory entries they will probably be run by the same team. Note the different names the three Peugeots are entered under as well
