We have hade our race car on 2 different rolling roads and a different BHP off 23 BHP reported from each one. WHAT DO WE WEIGHT THE CAR TOO? For Cadwell ??? Is it the first Weight at the Cadwell circuit the one to go from or do we take it that all the weight machines weigh the same at all circuits? What if its a wet meeting then p/w results can not be reported. Note we are 1st time users of a dater loger and we are still learning, poss info needed asap... www.greenstarracing.com

23bhp difference ATW for a class C car is a huge % error. Something definitely not right with the RR or operation. TBH I'd take the car to another RR, maybe Joo at Trackcar? If not I guess you have to weight the car to the highest power figure you have to be sure you comply with the regs at Cadwell. The cars will be weighed at every meeting as they leave the circuit after qually and races. The weighing process is usually very accurate. You can get PTW in the wet, provided the wheels aren't spinning.

Thats correct, 23bhp is a bit out! The cars will be weighted at each event and all figures will be checked when we can in order to keep it as accurate as possible. Once you've run the car and have the RR and CdA values and have some max throttle data I can tell you what your power output is on the track fairly accurately. This is the one to go by as it will be used in the series. From doing some work on some 206 race car data I've had its power figures down to within 2bhp across a full race and qualifying so its pretty accurate as long as the CdA, RR and weight figures are correct.

If you are out by a bit for the first couple of races I'm sure we'll be pretty easy on you while everyone gets used to the system and gets the cars sorted so I wouldn't worry!

I'll be at the Cadwell day by the way so I'd be happy to help you out with anything data-logger related...

<LOL> 23bhp difference on 2 rolling roads, on a class C, and people were complaining about the logger accuracy <LOL>...

As Cliff has said the weight of the car is taken at the end of the race, complete with Remaining fuel, and fully kitted driver, so as it leaves the circuit... This may vary a few kilos depending what the driver had for breaky and how much fuel but not by much the scales are fairly consistent, more so than the RR's you've been using !!!

It is true that its more difficult to get an accurate reading in the wet, due to wheelspin. This will tend to show less power, and to be honest you'll probably be using less if its wet anyway..

There are tricks to try an minimise this, get the wet accuracy up, but basically if your showing over power in the wet, your really in trouble hehe

The loggers are new to most people and nick is here to help make it go as smooth as possible, yes i expect there will be a learning curve, but if we all pull together as usual we can work out any issues..

cheers

Or of course you could always just race in Class B and not worry about the Margins??

There is always that route if your worried you cant get down to the limits. Thats why the regs are structured the way they are especially with the 3.5-4ltr v8's.

You can always start in one class and swap to another later... the points will stay in the relavant classes but for overall championship position they are added together..

If your really worried talk to Nick..

cheers

The car is at Motec being mapped as we speak, with two maps: one for class B and the second is balls out gravel trap fodder over 400hp. But a few gizmos I hope will keep me on the straight and narrowsmokin
