Used to do a bit of spannering/timekeeping for a mate, and got to visit most club circuits.
Always looked forward to Mallory, close to the action at the hairpin and great views from the final bend.

Cadwell was popular too, excellent bacon sandwiches.

Did a track day there a few years ago. It's fairly short but good fun.

I've not done much spectating, but plenty of laps, including a few hundred competitive laps...

On the face of it mallory is a very simple track, but to get a good lap time its actually quite technical. there is nowhere to relax on th ecircuit, and one little mistake makes a big difference to the lap time.. Its also got about the highest average speed, dispite having a 30mph hairpin.. at the end of stebbe straight im only going about 10 mph slower than at the end of revett at snetterton... and pootling round in the low 49's

I have a soft spot for mallory, We've had some good nights in the paddock as well, although Cadwell is my favorite

Yeah, love it.

I'm sure Graham will post some photos of pink Taz too.

Having said all that. As a driver I love it, keeps you tingling every moment. As a spectator, from the inside of Devils Elbow you can see everything bar the hairpin, a bit like Brands from that grandstand at the enterance to Paddock Hill. Brilliant.

Iain

I did my first race at Mallory last year. It went really well up until the point when my head hit the tarmac going into the hairpin. The car was written off, so was my helmet. rotaterotate

I'm going back tomorrow with a different car.

I'm looking forward to it.
