Makes you wonder what evidence he had to give that could have meant a back down and reversal of the FIA decisions from last year perhaps.Hope his book gets published before 2009.

Going by the FIA report of the enquiry, there was evidence against only four people for acting corruptly: Alonso, de la Rosa, Coughlan and Stepney. One has had a slap on the wrist, two others have had nothing, and the fourth, well he does wear silver so crucification is probable.They have also told the motorsport world that he is not to be trusted untill 1st July 2009. Presumably after that he will be trustworthy again.

I have just read Stepneys reply on Autosport in which he states that the information that was passed to his mate of 22 years was nothing like the famous 760 page document and that he wrote to Max in august about this with no reply.
What i find wrong with this whole charade is how the FIA reached their finding and the huge fine without Stepney being present at that time as he wanted to attend.
Could be that he is talking it up for his book launch but as others have stated this whole affair stinks.

Got to agree that the FIA have handled the whole affair, including the Stepney angle, very badly.
As Stepney says in the Autosport article the FIA should have know from the start that they couldn't ban him.

In the last paragraph Stepney says:
"Right now, I'm getting on with the job that's been my life and enjoying my family, who've suffered enormously and stood by me throughout, in peace."
Anyone know what his job is at the moment?

The Pride and Poise Boys at the FIA say there is only evidence that four people acted corruptly, all from McLaren.
The fact that Coughlan swore an affidavit in June stating that he had received all his information from Stepney was not evidence, right?

And what the chances that someone has whispered in Stepney's ear that the Italian mags can be persuaded to go easy on him - so long as his forthcoming book says nothing too incriminating about, as he put it, "where the bodies are buried"?
