Peter Wardle (Powercar CHALLENGE) now in prison
Discussion
The chap trying to start up 'The Challenge' as detailed in these threads

is now in prison, allegedly (no further information known).
Does anyone know
-what he went down for?
-if those who put down £5000 to register for his Challenge (or the related Motorsport Tax avoidance consultancy) have got any of their money back?

I think you'll find that's a differen Peter Wardle. I could be wrong though, but that's not the guy I thought it was if it is.
Having been at the first launch of the Powercar Challenge during my time at Rockingham, I can confirm that this is NOT the Peter Wardle referred to by this thread.Edited by macsport on Wednesday 19th March 19:06

Interesting that they both have the same name and have run championships though!

Wardle approached our team about a tax saving scheme called "Applied Racing Techniques" or ART for short. We were shown a prospectus done for Matt Hamilton who was in Formula Palmer Audi. We decided that it was not for us because we could not see a car and the "Challenge" relied on fantasy rather than economics. I spoke to Matt about it at Oulton and he said Wardle was quite helpful with the set up of his FPA car.
However I have no idea if he has been jailed or what he his crime is! There is nothing on the internet about Wardle or the 'Challenge' involved in a trial.

Not really!
clicdallara's reference to ART is the tax avoidance thing that I mentioned in my 1st post.
I also couldn't find anything on the web about Wardle and the court case (or indeed much about him at all, now that The Challenge site is down).
It may be that he went down for something entirely unrelated to his motorsport enterprises (though I think this is quite unlikely as it was his main attempt at making a living for several years to date)

It has been reported in today's Autosport that Peter Wardle died last week.

Looks like Autosport have reported the death of the wrong Peter Wardle! The Peter who has passed away is the MG racing one who had cancer. Autosport mentioned the Peter Wardle who is supposed to be in prison and founded Powercar. Looks like they did not check their facts.clicdallara said:
