have a grid walk, anyone know why?

My thoughts

1/ He could not be a*sed

2/ Bernie would not let him, as was the case a few years ago for a couple of races.

Number 1 I think, sometimes happens when it's too hot or too far to get back to the commentary box for the start of the race.

The grid walk in Australia was a disaster. Brundle probably told them to poke it this time because (a) it was hot (b) he wouldn't be able to speak to any of the primadonna little pr1cks and (c) BBC have won the rights for next season so Brundle's out of a job anyway.

I think the reason is that at Sepang there is not enough time to get back from the grid to the commentary box in time for the start of the race. There are a couple of the circuits where Martin Brundle doesn't do a grid walk for this reason

You are so right - crap gridwalk...which has increasingly been the case - they seem to seek out celebs more often now too....let's hope the beeb changes that - assuming Brundle transfers across (which I hope he does...)

Have to agree about no one of any note wanting to speak to Brundle,I don't want to hear from B-Z list celebs, only drivers/team CEO's, and we have had some good grid walks in the past.

When ITV took over F1 coverage, Brundle's grid walk was a great peek into the F1 grid. At the time, Brundle was recently out of F1 but still in touch and his reporting was incisive and insightful. Who remembers the title showdown between the recently golden hair coloured Villeneuve and Schumacher which Brundle billed as being between Goldilocks and Golden Gonads? Lately they have been bland and insipid by comparison and whereas it used to be part of the coverage I eagerly looked forward to, now I fast forward it. It's time for a change.

As much as I like Brundle, I think the move to the BBC should introduce a fresh face, maybe someone who's just retired, Crazy Dave perhaps?
