I do not know the facts, but when this story was first reported last year, it was said that Ron had told him that, if LH were to win the DC in two of the next three years (including '07), then McLaren would be willing to sell the car to Lewis.

I read that if he wins 2 DCs then he gets given the car.... Did not hear a timescale or that he would have to pay for it, the same article said the car was worth £2m.

I always figured F1 drivers would rather drive 'normal' cars outside of work - something like a comfy but speedy AMG or something

Lets be honest, Lewis would prably find the Macca F1 a tad boring (as weird as that sounds!)

In the article it stated that the F1 LM is his dream car, and has been ever since he first saw it when he was 13 (I think).

He could easily afford to go out and buy one if he really wanted.

Spoilt little pri*k, what the hell does he need that for !! Fastest MOTO GP boy wins a BMW M something at the end of the Jerez testing, that does them ok, why the hell does golden boy need Ron "sugar daddy" Dennis to promise hime an F1 LM ??

Money can't buy that car. It's nice to think that he'll actually use when he gets it and out of all the F1 owners he'll be able to use it to it's capabilities the most (sorry Flemke)

he drives a diesel merc 4x4 on the roads, he said so on top gear. Id imagine the difference in rewards for winning a motogp title against an f1 title are down to market forces.

They dont win it for a world title, just the fastest person at the Jerez pre season tests. Fair one at giving people an incentive but damn. But thats only my opinion, I cant help it if I cant stand the guy !!

Insofar as Hamilton is quite possibly the most talented racing driver in the world, being inferior to him is hardly shameful.
The flip side is that there is one chap who is likely to be an owner for a very long time, and as long as he is, I could never be the worst-driving owner. And that's not including Ralph Lauren, who is not likely to keep Kimi Raikkonen awake at night either. smile

Although off topic, I would love to see all the drivers in identical cars with identical set-ups given a few days practice then quali and race each other to see who really is tops

You could even include some golden oldies and the odd wild card like Walter Rohl as a yard stick

It's all just H_Y_P_E_R_B_O_L_E - Oh - and Rossi earns as much as virtually any of the top F1 drivers in a year - more than Hamilton did last year and probably more than he will earn this year....

Uh oh - j_e_a_l_o_u_s_y alert? It isn't about "need" is it? It's about "want" and "can".

Isn't that called the Top Gear Suzuki Liana challenge?

Imagine if they managed, now the Beeb have the F1 rights, to get all the driver to the Top Gear Test Track to put in lap times! Best episode of Top gear ever? Quite possibly.
