ESPN Classic F1

I was just about to post on this! Watched the 1970 one. Excellent stuff but doesn't it all look very amateur?

Anyone not caught up with it, click here:

and choose Motorsport in the Select Sport box and it will tell you when it's on.
Sky Channel 462(ish)

And all the better for having a more "amateurish" - but sporting, approach.

It makes me smile that today's F1 drivers would not do a fast lap in a car from 40 years ago, yet we think of today's drivers being the best ever! Anybody driving before about 1992 is certainly braver than those afterwards and may well have a better understanding of car control. The ESPN stuff is magical, yes a little dated but it shows the passion, creative design and sheer bravado of owners, designers, fans and drivers which today is often missing.

I saw the 1972 one last night - was very excellent viewing.
Won by the Lotus that top gear used when they reviewed the new M3, Merc and Audi - 35 years old and still beat all three by 20s a lap!
Id quite expect that though!Won by the Lotus that top gear used when they reviewed the new M3, Merc and Audi - 35 years old and still beat all three by 20s a lap!
