No, not a rant, but a tru thumbs up.
For the entire season they are showing (almost) the full race schedule for the Touring cars- 5 hours of programmes.
Plus next weekend, the Tourist Trophy from Silverstone.
Plus GP2
Some great motor sport entertainment. The cameras might not be too good, but its a damn sight better then normal.

The only downside is knowing its on...
I have followed the cars around the country for years.
I remember a particulary soggy Oulton 2 years ago..
Would I go to a horribly wet day knowing I could watch from the comfort of my settee instead..
probably not so its a killer for gate receipts on wet days surely..?

It's not been advertised but they're covering WTCC too (30 min program from Mexico was on Saturday) and said at the end of the BTCC coverage yesterday that FIA GTs are on next weekend.
Are they covering GP2 this year? I guess the season starts in Barcelona?
C4 are still doing British GTs and F3.
And the usual C5 overnight stuff which sometimes has something worth watching.
I can't remember us ever having it so good. Even if something deep in my psyche objects to watching ITV in any of its guises...

Touring cars......front wheel drive......really boring......front wheel drive........slow...... front wheel drive............thuggish driving.........front wheel drive..........vision clouding over....head feeling heavy.......BTCC
Yeah. Those BMW 3 series. Crap pieces of front wheel... oh bugger. The Clio Cup and the BTCC races are the main events i watch, always entertaining, plus i know a couple of the drivers who are good guys which adds to the interest compared to the other events.
ITV4 are doing a good job so far on the whole, it's nice to have so much coverage for once.

Yeah I thought it was strange ITV were only showing BTCC on ITV4. Surely its not considered that "specialist"?
They even interview the drivers "in car" on camera. Was very funny seeing Plato interviewed while the safety car was out after "alledgedly" causing quite a major chain reaction crash.
Personally I thought the Rockingham race was a bit boring, much prefer a tight and twisty track. And i love the whole idea of the "lottery draw" thing for pole.

In fairness to the BTCC I found rockingham more enjoyable to watch than the DTM race at Hocks last weekend.
True, the problem with DTM is the compulsory pitstops. Get rid of the pitstops and give them a straight 1hr race and it would be far better. Edited by johnph on Thursday 17th April 01:22
