Why did the safety car come out? I never caught the reason.

I was there from this morning and the weather was pretty shocking. Coudlnt stay to the end was it any good? James May was commentating at the track!

I think it was to do with a Saleen losing it's left rear goiong into Club. I was stood there and the wheel was left in the middle of the track for a good 2 laps before it got shifted. Once it was moved the safety car came out. Not sure if this was the reason as the commentary couldn't be heard.
