Dilema.....Hillclimbing and Sprints or the Challenge???????
Discussion
Guys,
At the moment I am competing in the TVRCC speed championships with the ex Jez / Howards Tasmin, and enjoying it, but can't help feeling that I should be doing a bit in the Challenge.
Now then, I've got the "Go Racing" starter pack, I've passed the medical, I'm doing the ARDS test next month (hopefully) what more do I need to do to get a couple of meetings in this year?
Join the BRSCC
Register for the Challenge (have I left it too late?)
Register for the races I want to Do (have I left it too late?)
Get a DL1 data logger (Will I really need one?)
Get some Dunlop Slicks (where do I get them from and how much are 205/50/15 equivs?)
Will my open faced helmet I use for the hillclimbs be acceptable.
Will my Sparco, FIA approved, double layer, overalls be acceptable.
Do I need to do anything else, besides selling a kidney to cover the costs, to enter?
Jez ran the car in the series last year. Have there been any rule changes for this year that would mean the car need modifying in any way?
Your help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Dave
PS. If I do enter a couple of races I promise to keep out of your way. I just need to experience it

Join the BRSCC - yep you'll need to do that 130 quid for 12 months from when you join
Register for the Challenge - Talk to John Reid, not too late, and he might let you do one race without registering first.
Register for the races I want to Do :- Thats fine, closing date is normally the wed before the actual race
Get a DL1 data logger - Class C with sub 3ltr v6 dont need one.
Get some Dunlop Slicks (where do I get them from and how much are 205/50/15 equivs?) HP Tyres
Will my open faced helmet I use for the hillclimbs be acceptable. - if its The correct type in the blue book open face is ok in closed cockpit
Will my Sparco, FIA approved, double layer, overalls be acceptable. - yes if its fia 1986 or 2000
Do I need to do anything else, besides selling a kidney to cover the costs, to enter? Nope

Your help would be really appreciated.

Good luck with the ards then.
As long as you are safe and consistant and show awareness of whats going on around you you should be fine.. putting a wheel off the circuit or a spin is an instant fail, so dont give it more thatn 9/10ths your not out to set any speed records..
Im hoping to make a couple of rounds this year so hope to catch up with you

Dave,
Do you mind if I ask where and when you are doing your ARDS?
Its either Croft or Oulton but the dates are not yet confirmed. Should be sometime in June though.Do you mind if I ask where and when you are doing your ARDS?

ARDS Test now confirmed on the 3rd of June (AM). Apparently they use Renault Supersport pocket rockets. I'm assuming these are souped up clios? s
t!!!! I've never driven a front wheel drive car fast before......How do you do it
Dave did my ARDS at Oulton in the Clios, they are very easy cars to drive, to be honest I didn't push too hard in mine, just listened to the examinier and did what he said.

Good luck class C is getting bigger by the day
Passed
Did not even take the test as such, as on 2nd 20 mins of tutition, he did not even say anything. and apart from come into pits on the end of this lap.
He then said no point do anymore as I'll give you a pass. but in a way was a longer test than before, but he wanted to see if I could do a full race time 20 mins. on my own.
He then took me out for some 10/10th's laps
but there was a lot less pressure, than at silverstone.
I'll see much I get done on the car over the bank holiday, and if all goes to plan. I'll try and book the test day on the 12th.
