ks.Ozzy Mosley was banged up first, although not really in prison as he had a little cottage in the grounds of the prison and had prisoners as servants and gardeners - I kid you not. His missus, the very weird Diana Mitford, was preggers with Max Rufus so was allowed to remain at large until a few weeks after the birth. MR was then, as was the norm for such people, farmed out to wet nurses and governesses until 1943 when someone in government got confused as to whether the war was still on or not and let mummy and daddy out although I believe there was an admonisment about being too pro Hitler.

Anyone see the documentary on More 4 the other night about Unity Milford, quite interesting but I wonder if it would have been screened had max not been caught with his pants off and a thermomitor up his bottom

It seems - I haven't researched this but do remember reading something similar - that little Max did indeed start life with a wet nurse and then a nannie - somehow different from a governess. They then went to live with a very strange, probably Mitford related, aunt who wanted nothing to do with the child. She had, before he arrived, gone round and killed all her cats and dogs and blamed this on MM somehow. As I say, very strange.
Perhaps Mosley's weird behaviour is now more understandable, but no more acceptable of course.
MM was arrested a number of times in his Union Movement days, but only for minor public order infringements and obstruction, that sort of thing. In those days police officers used to prosecute their own offences and were no match for a real lawyer. He got off most maybe all but I do seem to remember him getting fined one time. But maybe not.
I went to a meeting when MM's daddy was fighting to be MP for Mile End or such in the early 60s and heard MM speak. My father, who was rabidly anti-fascist, took me when I said something flippant about fascism. He proved his point.

Still, given his family and early upbringing (or should that be downbringing) I'm almost feeling sorry for him - I did say "almost"!
