Is it just me that thinks Casey is already moaning too much and not letting his riding speak for itself ?

Every time he has a duff finish, theres always some excuse.

Is it a case of facing the music and admitting the only reason you won the title last year is because Rossi/Yam/Mich had a *very* bad year ?

I always get the impression Stoner and Ducati are programming a machine rather than setting a race bike up. If the computers dont work it seems he cant ride it fast.

Todays excuses for letting Rossi beat him....

Ive not really seen or heard Nicky Haydon bhing that loudly, and if anyone should feel hard done by, then surely he should ?

And as for Marco Melandri........that Duke must be so single mindedly built for Stoner, whats he got to do to make it work for him ?

Just a fantastic race I thought.
Fantastic pace and concentration from Pedrosa. As he is so small, does his bike carry a weight penalty?
I though Casey rode fantastically, the back of that bike all over the place, but he did wring it's neck.
And Rossi just never fails to give it the full beans.

I think Danny can only do the disappearing act if he is unmolested.

Rossi is quoted on Autosport as saying he had hoped Stoner would fight with Danny long enough for him to catch up from his poor grid position.

Rossi know's only too well how quick Danny can be straight from the flag, so usually ensures he is there to make sure Danny cannot just checkout.

Would Danny have had the lead he did today if Vale had been on the front row ?

Who knows...

Pedrosa is undoubtedly quick but Rossi's racecraft is in a league of his own.

Doesn't sound like he's moaning to me. It sounds more like someone asked him what his problems were today and he explained them (handling problems). Most TV reporters ask this kind of question..

His bike was dancing a jig underneath him almost all race, 3rd place was bloody impressive I thought. I suppose he could be a bit more modest but he wants to win, like any good racer!

And how is programming a machine different to setting up a race bike? Programming (setting up) a machine (bike) is exactly what they do!

Thats a valid point, and I guess Im a bit old fashioned, but if you took all the electronics off that bike Stoner wouldnt be able to ride it as fast as someone from the old school.

But thats a whole new pissing contest......

I dont rate him that highly, and feel he does a lot of whining.

These 800's really are very fickle beasts in set up, and it appears on the very best of rider/team combination can make them work effectively.

I know waht you mean as Melandri is a MEGA rider on a REAL 990 minimal or no electronic bike of 2 - 4 years make - MEGA, winning alot on a Satelite 2nd division Honda and now like all the other GP7/8 riders he is now where - yes Stoner can ride this bag of electronics round faster than anyone - but he was not so hot of a Satelite Honda WAS HE...................

I think you'll find most race drivers/riders moan like crazy especially at higher levels when they don't win some just choose not do it in public. I think you'll find making excuses is a sort of defense meachanism to themselves as much as any body else and allows them to retain their self confidence at the very high levels required for motor racing. How many times have you heard racing drivers just admit well I'm not good enough?

Not really, you miss my point.
Rossi can get into a fight, overtake, and still then put in quali style laps to pull ahead.

Danny has yet to prove he can do this. Away from the flag and uninterrupted, yes, but not dogfight and then checkout.

Think of Pedrosa as an artist amd Rossi/Melandri/Capirex as dtreet fighters.

Stoner gained the ride on the 3rd string satellite team and came from 15th to 6th place in his first ride in Motogp.
Qualified on pole in his 2nd GP, and finished 5th.
Finished in 2nd place in his 3rd GP, pipped at the last corner by Melandri.
Average finishing position for the year was 5th (in races he finished), and he ended up 8th in the championship.

Yeh, he was useless in his first year.

got to accept that these days, just like F1, its the machinery that matters. Even Rossi cant win on an uncompetitive bike as he has shown but conversely, there probably are 10 riders who could take the championship if given that years hot bike. stoner won the championship because ducati (thanks to Ferrari) stole a march that year.
