Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that the closing date for Dunlop Race Academy is Wednesday. This is your chance to go through an academy of training with racing drivers including Calum Lockie before racing on track with the professionals at the final round of the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup and then heading off to Monaco to stay at David Coulthard's hotel.

If you want to see what it's all about then take a look at the highlights from last year's competition at:

Good luck!!

I would just like to say what a fantastic opportunity this Dunlop racing academy is.
The effort put in by all the staff and administrators at Dunlop has been incredible.
The programme presented to the applicants by Dunlop really does test to the limit the drivers ability
and really does mean that the best driver really will win.
As a chance for any would be racing driver it represents the fairest chance any normal person
could ever expect to have to fulfill his dream of sitting in a cockpit waiting for the red lights to go out and a dream to begin all courtesy of Dunlop.

(I would also like to thank my mum and dad without whom I wouldn't be here. Did I mention Dunlop?)

Seriously though... I would love to see just how far I can go in this. The final three selection would be great and a just reward for all my previous efforts to win a race seat.

a rather plush stay in Monaco and a race in the DUNLOP SportMaxx cup at Rockingham in September. Not to mention the experience of competing to win the place itself. On track with professional instructors in real race cars.

A race? A single, solitary race?

Is that it??? Normally scholarships are for a whole championship (Max-5, Clio, etc). I'd have thought that Dunlop could get a few more shekels together and give someone a proper go at motorsport, not just a single race???

Our 2005 winner Simon Shaw has enjoyed two successful seasons racing in the Ginetta Championship in 2006 and then the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup in 2007 - supported by Dunlop. The aim of Dunlop Race Academy is to allow those with no experience to gain some instruction and get out on track. Future support is not guaranteed but not out of the question.

The Max 5 and Clio sponsorships ask the competitors to pay for their tuition slot, the profits of which pay for a season for one driver.

The Dunlop prize is for three full days of training and coaching, racewear and kit and one race meeting (as well as a holiday) which is a prize value of around £5,000.

Still rubbish compared the Chance of A Lifetime competition that used to run in OZ.

The winner of that got a full season racing brand new Elises on the undercard of the V8 supercars and if they won that (which the winner did) they got another whole season in brand new Exiges, then if they won that they got a full drive in the V8 supercar series - total prize value 6 years ago was Au$600,000.

Now that's a scholarship worth entering - I came third frown
