I think he's trying to come to terms with the fact that he can't win every time. His mental discipline, perfect to start with, has been shaken because he's met failure for the first time. Whether or not he regroups and comes back like Schumacher, or falls into mediocrity like Jenson Button remains to be seen.

That i think sums it up very well... He gets a lot of attention which must be hard and i think did a bit of a number on Jenson Button, although he hasn't improved without all the focus on him!
I felt sorry for Hamilton over the last two races becuase things have been stacked against him, let's hope he bounces back a bit. And, tbh, kimi was nearly 20 points behind last season and came back to win it...

That is a thought in the back of my mind. Lets hope Honda give JB a decent car soon, then hopefully we will see what he really can acheive, might take some heat off Lewis!I think Alonso and Kimi are both quicker drivers, probably Kubica as well if he was put in the Mclaren, and Vettel, possibly.
No doubt Lewis is very quick, but he has been in one of the best cars on the grid since he started. What he needs is to be more consistent, silly mistakes like the pitlane in Canada, and the dodgy overtake in France, China last year etc will lose him championships.

He's starting to show some rather arrogant behaviour which im finding a turn off tbh.
Yes he can drive, he wouldnt be there if he couldnt, but he's not the only one in the game that can.
And if James "im a cock" Allen face plants into hamiltons backside just once more, i really am going to squeam.

To give the lad his dues he came out in his rookie season to almost won the world championship which is no mean feat in itself. He was in with a shout all the way to the end. Now he is no doubt expected to do as well if not better now he has experiance.
Lately there have been a few daft mistakes but that cant be much of a surprise. At the heart of it all he is a young man on a top flight stage trying to wrk out how the game is played still. To me it seems more than fair he will have a few jitters and make a mistake. The fact Mclaren took a risk on him shows they have confidence in him and as long as he keeps that seat by keeping slipups in the acceptable range he will have the championship in no more than 2 more seasons.
I don't know how as brits we bemoan everything so much.

It's bothering me, I know it's odd but it does.
I am still a fan, he is only 10 points off the lead and we are not even half way through. I'm sure he had hoped for a better start and he must be cross with himself for some of the errors. What he needs to be careful of is that he doesn't pass that frustration on into his racing (I think that showed in his overtake in France, though can't help thinking it was a close call, it took the stewards long enough to decide).

Absolutely. Speed is useless if you don't finish the race or throw away places carelessly. But it's not just speed, it's tactical awareness and a calculating brain. Schumacher was so good because he had all of them. He was fast, he was cunning, he never gave up and his team knew the rulebook. How many races did he win by changing pit strategy and/or blasting in a few blinding laps to overtake people in the pits?
I dont want to go down the route of knocking Hamilton, He young and Human like the rest of us, Last year he had a fantastic season, I think however in last couple of races of that season there were some odd decisions taken by the team in reguard to pit stops that contbruted in Hamilton not becoming World Champion! I beleive the Ferraris this season are at the moment a much better car! Im sure the Mclarens will come back. This makes for a good season in F1 and it would be great for it to go down to the wire

There are too many distractions - media, girlfriends, 'friends' - I'm not saying Lewis isn't entitled to a private life but I do believe they are taking from his on track performance. He's being surrounded by the wrong people and needs to get his mind back to whats important and he can become world champion.
If he had spotted the red light at Canada he'd be well leading the world championship now.
Fact is he made a major mistake but one that took only fractions of a second to make. Without that he'd have had all the points and wouldnt have been penalised at france.
I cant understand how this minor mistake suddenly makes him a poor driver. All the drivers make mistakes, just most times they get away with it or its not relevant because they are not in contention.
He'll probably win 2 world championships if he can be lucky enough to get the right cars. Makes him a way better prospect than any other PHer in an F1 car I would think

Yes. You half expect him to put 22 inch chrome spinners on his McLaren and carry a Glock with him on track, looking at the lifestyle he seems to aspire to off track.
