With the news that Lewis has just signed to be the new face of Reebok for a reported £10 million over the next 5 years and the endless other 'PR' obligations his team around him are signing him up for - like the £750 poster signed by him - SUCKS!!, is there a possibility that the drive by this management team around him to build a new 'Black Beckham' could have repercusions on the guy never quite managing to secure the World Championship?

Think about it, beckham maybe a global brand now, but he's never won a world championship...

It will be a shame to throw away what appears to be on the surface a great talent.

I don't quite follow the logic here. How does Hamilton signing a commercial deal make him less likely to win the World Championship?
Beckham not being in a World cup winning side was due to him being to young to compete in 1966 and the suceeding England football teams not being good enough.

I can kind of follow what's being said. Maybe down to a fact that Hamilton could become wrapped up in his own press or focusing on too many PR events instead of his racing

Ironically I find these pathetic threads 100 times more annoying than the OP in any of them finds Lewis...

I can see what the OP is saying and he is sharing his thoughts. Will Lewis get so wrapped up in the 'hype' that it will cost him the focus needed to win the world championship.

As opposed to just leaving it, you have just made yourself look pathetic.....nice one smile

Maybe if you could write your comments in English, then we might be able to understand them ?

I have to agree, Lewis is looking as if his head maybe steadily migrating towards the Anal region, which would be tragic for such a talented driver who has already done so much for UK motorsport, and could do so much more

Interesting...

The other day I posted a remark on one of your threads that went against your view point, now it seems when ever I post a comment, you hunt me down and respond with a negative...

Well I don't blame him for earning what he can. It's his life and his career and I don't see why he would turn down the money and increase in fame. Also he's only a young man, what decisions would we all make? Being right all the time comes with age smile

Really? Had no idea at all. Still, we have differing opinions don't we? And I'm not the one racking up points against PH members...

Agreed, a football teams achievement is focussed less on one person. Also your focusing on national team football, an arena with less tournaments. F1 WC's are every year, Football every 4. Beckham has built a brand on success. At every club so far he has delivered. He is a winner and has always worked hard to achieve at the highest level. Thats why the Beckham brand is so big. Lewis on the other hand, as i belive the main point of the thread is, is in danger of becoming a global brand with no real substance. So far a record breaking rookie season, which has helped launch him into the public domain, but that will only take him so far. He will need to become WC sooner rather than later or he may loose face. People are already becoming fed up of the hype and PR machine surrounding him. No doubt the boy has tallent, but to sustaine this amount of PR he will have to turn potential into fact.
