Why do they even have the driver to pit talk evesdrop, when Brundle and the gray haired t
t don't shut up when the graphic comes up?
Millions of people up and down the country can see the pigging graphic appear and flash green. Why can't ITVF1?
And is it me, or are there even more ad breaks now than there used to be?
God I can't wait till BBC take the reins of the F1 parade. I have come to dispise itv.

It is poor. In the GP2 programme, yesterday there had been 2 breaks in the first 12 minutes.
Other than that Allan's commentary is so substandard, in so many ways. His grammar is poor (though not as bad as Blundell, it has to be said), his technical knowledge non existent, his observation sloth-like and his Hamilton fixation makes me cringe.

Agree completly.The coverage was bad, and then it got worse. Now look at what we have! Since 2007> the coverage has got so awful its unbelivable, i mean i think its just the biasisms, but Allen just ruins everything, he has no racing knowledge whatsoever!
I don't think that is his problem. Having worked as a motorsport journalist for 20 odd years I'm sure he knows quite a bit about F1. His problem is his "style" as a commentator - which has been debated to death on here.
There are very many people who are extremely knowledgeable about all sorts of subjects. However, out of these, there are precious few who are good at communicating that knowledge with GENUINE passion and enthusiasm.

Agreed Eric, if you read Allen's features on the ITV F1 website, they're actually pretty much on the button and generally quite insightful, its simply that he's not a great TV commentator. Hamilton fixation aside, I personally I don't think he's quite as bad as people make out anyway, its just fashionable to bash him so people prey on every word looking for mistakes then highlight them on forums like these. I suspect if we did the same to Murray 10-15 years ago, each race thread would be on average twice as long as those now!

Well I enjoyed hearing the press conference in full - OK, so I was at the circuit and it was like listening to the radio whilst taking a cold shower...and do you know what...every time that radio graphic came up, the circuit commentators shut up - James Allen could learn a lot from them.
They earnt their money today, those drivers - Club was super tricky - fantastic to see the cars sliding there.

I thought the ITV commentary was fairly bad today, both Brundle and Allan were slow to notice things happening, talking over radio feeds, mixing up team mates (different colour helmets and camera mounts aren't that hard to spot).
I couldn't do much better! But there seemed to be a lot of more noticeable errors today.

talking over radio transmitions really pisses me off as well.
BUT the thing that really had me shouting at the tv yesterday, was when Kimi had caught Lewis and was all over his tail end, they decided it was better to watch fking Alonso pit, then exit the pit lane, then start off his lap, what the fk is happening between lewis and kimi!! The most exciting part of the race so far and the next we saw of them was both cars entering the pit lane!!

I was there yesterday and was surprised at the apparent lack of visible TV cameras to film the race. Doing it on the cheap?
The programme has the host broadcaster down as "FOM" - not ITV or BBC (ISTR ITV use a BBC service???)Also I clocked an extra camera at Vale this year

unfortunately the broadcaster can't chose tv feeds to suit theiri commentary or even what's going on in the race sometimes! during the race there is only one race feed of race action that everyone has to use (they can cut to interviews and stuff i think but i don't think they can choose to switch to on-board camera's which is a shame as they always seem to do on-boards on the boring straights and switch to external shots through the corners where you can't really see the speed so well).BUT the thing that really had me shouting at the tv yesterday, was when Kimi had caught Lewis and was all over his tail end, they decided it was better to watch f
