Right, I've been watching the threads so lets get everyone's opinion.

If Bernie really wants it to be done it will be done no doubt about it theres a whole heap of money at stake. However im sure he has some very attractive alternatives on the table to take up if Donnington aren't fully ready.
There must have been something behind this proposal in the first place to be attractive over SS. Anything can be done successfully if enough money is thrown at it.

Besides, unless you've lived there since before 1977, when the track reopened, you've got no business to complain about the noise!
Yes I agree with you but, sadly, the Environmental Health Act doesn't see it that way. Witness the situation at Castle Combe and Goodwood and you will see that history cannot be balanced against the 'here and now'.
Whilst I am sure that Bernie is far too controlled to admit it, he sees the BRDC, the 'blazers' of SS, as the very worst manifestation of snobery and elitism in motorsport. He is is a fundamental socialist as his £1m donation to same proved a few years back.
SS lost money last year and without the GP and it's huge costs, will not. Bernie would love to break them. This is personal even if he has to fund Donington himself.

Only if they want someone to build a couple of thousand houses on the site.I really don't care if the GP is at Donington or Silverstone, as long as there actually IS a British GP in 2010 and beyond. Sadly, 21 years of working on major Construction sites makes me a realist about things like this.
If the plans had been ready to go with full planning permission granted when the announcement was made, then throwing money at the project might just have got it done.
I'll be the first to applaud them if all those who have voted no are proved wrong because if we're correct, you can say goodbye to our GP.
I went Silverstone the first time last week to the grand prix and was amazed by the size compared to Donnington. Just think that the track is going to be a bit narrow at Donnington and heard there are no plans to widen the curcuitso it could be a race won in qualifying.
With the construction i reckon time wise they can, i just think it could be down to the finances more than anything. Just hope they get some more grandstands up, so i can book my tickets at craner kerbs. Also is there going to be enough room in surrounding areas for people to camp? The amount of camp sites at Silverstone are unbelievable, i think Donnington could be the first step to losing the British Grand Prix.
