had a little search and couldn't find a topic like this however im sure there will be one somewhere.

Anyway, if you struggle to name just one then i suppose you could pick a top 3 and give reasons for the decision.

Interesting to know who people follow.

My answers will follow once ive had a think.

Good grief what a decision, im struggling to think of the race category nevermind driver. Im thinking touring cars, got to love the way those guys use their cars to overtake, proper wheel to wheel, door to door action.

1) Andy Priaulx- 3 times world touring car driver, hard working, committed & never gives in.
2) Massa- seems like a top bloke. Always speaks to Itv et al. Congratulates other drivers, and can blow the doors off other drivers when he is on it, and also himself when he is not! lol.
3) Matt Jackson (BTCC)- love his driving style.

This topic has made me think, as I'm not really a fan of many current drivers. Maybe it's because I'm older now but in years gone by I was a huge fan of Soper, Hakkinen, Vatanen, Stuck, Bell, Peterson and Stommelen etc, yet the current crop aren't really heroes like they used to be.

You tend to admire the abilities of modern racing drivers, but they don't inspire the stories of derring do, heroism, maximum attack charges and all round blokeishness that the old guard did. The bikers and rally drivers haven't lost the element of fun, though.

My favourite current racing driver is probably Uwe Alzen. Highly Commended rosettes to Nic Minassian, Christophe Bouchut and Jarek Janis. Favourite rally driver: Latvala. Biker: Bayliss.

this has made me think to, my gut feel was to say hamilton. but then i thought i do like him but onyl coz he's british and succesful, all the other drivers i can't really warm to, ahonen is right i think it is an age thing and the mystique goes when you see these guys and realise they are a few years younger than you....

i am going to say adam gould, because .... of his potential. possibly.

I can't think of anyone more deserving of the "legend" tag.

To lose both your legs in a huge crash, then learn to walk on artificial legs (his own design) AND resume your career is almost unbelievable.

Helio Castroneves - for the win or bust mentality
Roman Dumas - for sticking it to the R8
Oliver Gavin - for manhandling that corvette

If you mean Rossi, he isn't a racing driver, he is a rider, I know he has driven racing cars but he is still a rider.

DC, in Formula 1 possibly Nico Rosberg is my favourite.

One of the most spectacular has to be Mr Jacques "take it by the scruff of the neck" Villeneuve... But I'd not say he's my favourate.

What about Stirling Moss? Theres a man. A real man with balls.
