If that happens then it wouldn't be long before the red team were found to be copying the silver team and fined a large amount.

The only oponents to this will be the red team.

Todt's name has not been mentioned as a replacement for Mosley for some time. Further, the various motoring clubs who were furious with the FiA's voting system must have been exerting as much pressure as they can manage to change things. The FiA cannot continue without the support of these massive clubs and I cannot see them returning to the fold with Mosley still at its head.

Whilst Max Rufus poses and flaunts himself in various interviews, the NotW's revelations and, more particularaly, his handling of the whole situation, has harmed him. The threat of the Euston 40 would be enough to cause tremours in the minds of the membership.

Max Rufus' authority has taken a massive hit and as if to undermine it still further, he has said that he will resign next year. He's already yesterday's man and everyone in the FiA and our sport will be trying to find his successor and do deals with him. Or her of course.

I have absolutely no insider information but I can't see Ron Dennis wanting the position or being asked to fill it. Whilst his integrity is well known and accepted in the sport, his ability to run a team is second to none and he is pathetically keen on the sport and wants the best for it, can they really ask a team manager from one side of the greatest dual the sport has ever seen? That said, I'd love to see him take the post. I think it needs someone of integrity, a person whom people can trust and a man of his word. Of that I do have insider information.

Still, it's fun to consider, isn't it.

It would be nice, but I just can't see it.

I'm not quite sure I can see Ron leaving McLaren, he might have done when he was married, but now...

The vitally important reply by McLaren to the FiA's findings in the Stepneygate fiasco was signed by Whitmarsh. It was robust, confrontational and challenged the findings. When I first read it I thought it was a step too far as it acknowledged very little indeed. It was a classic of its kind and not the type of thing that Mosley would let pass. Or so I thought. But he did.

It seemed odd that Whitmarsh and not Dennis was the official author - although lawyers were the real writers of course.

I've often wonderd why Mosley backed down from his authoratative position and ended up shaking hands with Dennis on the steps of the McLaren HQ and admitting that McLaren corporate had no idea of the technical information, nor used any of it in their cars. That was a monumental climb down.

Derek,

Yes - I agree.

Whilst Ron or Todt would be candidates .. how could either truely put aside their natural one sided bias that must exist..

We will have to wait and see if this happens or not.

Yep, just from that - he is clearly not qualified to run the FIA biggrin
