Valencia - Poor man's Monaco?

Just had a look at the circuit map for the upcoming GP in the streets of Valencia. It looks as tight as Monaco, with over 20 corners per lap.

Is this going to be the most processional, boring GP yet?

At least Monaco has 'history' and 'glamour' supporting its presence on the calendar.......

I'm quite looking forward to it TBH, street races in all the lower formulae are always spectacular (eg Macau) this year with the absence of driver aids and a strong championship battle combined with a new circuit, I reckon it'll be entertaining no matter what happens. Cant wait

Supposedly it's going to be a much much faster circuit than Monaco and have quite a few decent overtaking oppurtunities around the lap, can't wait to see it.

I'm flying out there to watch it on Thursday, should be absolutely awesome to watch in the flesh, and the noise around the city streets!! Grabbed a token 1.4 Fiat Punto as a hire car to bounce off the limiter in over the course of the weekend as well

The circuit is much wider than Monaco - think normal track with concrete walls. Average speeds will be more like a normal circuit, with the cars topping out near 200mph.

yep it's very different to monaco, i walked half of it this morning (before the rotating bridge stopped me going any further). much wider and much faster, it should be a very good race

They're 2 completely different tracks with the only thing in common is the harbour.

Monaco is like racing round a rally super special stage.

Valencia is more like a proper circuit, wider for more overtaking.

In this month's F1 Racing magazine, there's an aerial view of the circuit, with comments by Sutil. Have to say it looks terrific, and excellent viewing facilities. Should be great viewing!

Theres several vids on youtube as they raced on it a few weeks ago. Its nothing like Monaco. I imagine some of thats going to look very fast in an F1 car.

especially the back straight, it's massive!! there is actually very little (if any) that is street surface even, all of it that i've seen has smooth race tarmac. concrete lines most of the track so i think we can expect one or two safety cars during the weekend...

They're 2 completely different tracks with the only thing in common is the harbour.

Monaco is like racing round a rally super special stage.

Valencia is more like a proper circuit, wider for more overtaking.

That'll teach me not to just go by a line diagram on the F1 website
