go karting on Oct 12th?

from a conversation a few of us had over a curry at the silverstone round, i thought i would have alook at a go karting event for the day after the meal ( hangover excuses not accepted) there is a great circuit not too far from the hotel ( 5 miles) with a huge main track and a smaller track which is availe on the sunday morning for a couple of hours. again, security of the race cars may be an issue, we may have to leave them at the hotel under the watchful eye of a couple of guardians, then car share to the track.

anyway its early days and would be about 30 each for the small track of 45 each for the larger track. depending on numbers we could either orgainse a grand prix type of event or an endurance with 20 people taking two hours and thirty people about 3 hours.

any interest at this stage?

Last time a couple of taz challenge racers went karting the results were legendary..



we both came plumb last but broke 3 karts and I even managed to cross the line backwards in one race...



p.s. as long as its not early... im not expecting to be in bed before the sun comes up....

OK, look like this may be a go-er. I will provisionally book for 20 people on the big track. bearing in mind checout is at 11, then I reckon 12-2 would be about right. We can talk more about it at brands next week to decide format etc. I will get final numbers and some money off you at brands if thats OK, for now I will just leave a deposit.

booked from 12-2 . initially i have paid a deposit for 20 people however i would think more will go. therefore it could be 12-3 if 30+ turn up.

the woma said that they have a large car park there but I cant verify his as I havent been. Mickey what do you think, would it be ok for some of the crs and trailers or are they best left at the hotel?

format will be GRand Prix. each driver gets a practice session, 5 rounds and then there will be one final. We have the option of a 2 hr endurance but this costs more - about 275 per team. I am happy to go with the majority on what you want.

The car park is quite big but you do have to go through a railway tunnel to get to it, so high top vehicles ?

Hi Everyone

Due to the fact that so far there are only 9 names on the list ( which is a surprise, i genuinely thught we would have about half the field pus some friends etc.) we cant go with the big circuit unless we all want to pay about a hundred quid each.

I have booked the smaller circuit instead which is 300 spilt between up to 15 drivers, so it works out cheaper.

I have had to pay for this upfront and the only times available are 11.30 - 1pm

Please add your name to the list if you wish to join us. For those already down such as Mike S and Graham, if you want to bring anyone else with you then please add them so that we get to 15.

Please remember there are lots fo people who have volunteered ther time over the year to get us on the track. Give them a chance to kick your ass !!

It should still be fun and if we have a late rush of people we can transfer the booking to the big circuit again.
