ETA - like most, I have been to quite a few GPs and race for the DFS team on a Sunday

If LH had followed KR around the corner as per normal he would not have gotten past, he was behind, clearly behind, proper tucked in behind. No one can argue that much surely (this is PH, of COURSE they can!)

To answer your question, if LH had tucked in behind KR, then he may have been further back, but KR would still have braked rediculously early (assuming he was under the conditions,rather than to make LH's life hard - i like to think the best of people until proven otherwise!!!) and LH would have sneeked past in the braking zone, or on the exit of the corner.If LH had followed KR around the corner as per normal he would not have gotten past, he was behind, clearly behind, proper tucked in behind. Lewis took Kimi in the braking zone for turn 1, it was nothing to do with how much speed he carried out of the chicane. When they crossed the start/finish line Lewis was 6kph slower than Kimi. He just judged the braking point in the difficult conditions better, having let Kimi passed he had gained no advantage from cutting the chicane.
