Kubica for 2008 WDC?

Whilst the fans on both side have been venting their spleen in the Red Vs Silver war a certain White car has been steadily scoring points and is currently third ahead of Kimi. So if Kimi can do it then why not Robert?
The BMW has been down on performance for the last few races but so far is back on form at Monza. And the big thing going for Kubica is that he is incredibly consistent. He doesn't make mistakes on the scale of the Red and Silver drivers, who, let's face it, have made a huge number of cock ups between them this season. Could their fighting and errors hand it to BMW?

16 or 18 points in five races is to big a margin against two front runners and Kimi wouldn't make things easy.

It's an open gamble.

Kimi scored 42 points in the final five races of last year. While he has a worse deficit this year, he isn't out of puff yet. Spa showed just how determined he was. 2007 showed he can go from zero to hero in the space of five races.

The problem with BMW is that their performance goes through peaks and troughs much more wildly than Ferrari or McLaren. Even at their peak, they're barely matching it. The only realistic chance for Kubica is if Lewis and Massa both fail to score on at least two races each, Kimi continues to underperform, BMW to keep improving, and Kubica himself not to make any mistakes and score consistent podiums for the next five races. It's a narrow - but not impossible - chance.

It's technically possible, but Hamilton and Massa would both have to make a series of serious screw ups in the next 5 races to bring that margin down. And Kubica would have to stay ahead of Raikkonen. I think we're just too far into the season now, it'll either be Hamilton or Massa

BMW have openly admitted they're concentrating on 2009, when Kubica could have a better chance, or 2010. Assuming he stays at BMW. Lewis won't want him as team mate but if Ferrari's line up performs the same way next year I wouldn't mind betting they'd get him in to replace Massa and wake Kimi up. Don't forget Todt's son gets a big cheque if they let him go...

He crashed out in Silverstone didn't he from a relatively good position? Otherwise he is very consistent and always seems to score points. I can't see him winning this year but if the car is competitive next year looks like a possibility.
