What one would have expected him to say is something like, "I hope that I win by more than 6 points, so there will be no doubts."

What one would have hoped he would say is something like, "I think the penalty was wrong, and I want to beat Hamilton fair and square."

After his poor start he has driven very well, only exception is Silverstone. Hamilton's going to fight hard and if Massa beats him fair and square then I think it will be worthy.
Neither Kimi, Kova or the BMW drivers have come into the WC battle so now it's just staight between these two.

So, when Hamilton comes off as being extremely arrogant, that's fine, because racing drivers are supposed to be brimming with confidence otherwise they'll have no chance of being competitive, however, when a big, bad, red car driver says that *if* he wins, he'll have deserved it. I mean, how much of an idiot is he saying that?!


Deadslow, you're right on the money, there are plenty of fanboys around here, not many of them are Ferrari fans though.

To be fair, if the circumstances were reversed I'm not convinced Hamilton, or ANY other driver would have said either of those things.

I'm not sure there's been a full on gentleman driver since Stirling Moss.

I'd bet you that there have been quite a few, actually. That is, drivers who acted like gentlemen, who put integrity, honour and decency before short-term superficial gain.
Others would have be knowledge than I, but just in F1 the list could well include:

Cevert
Peterson
McLaren
P. Hill
de Angelis

Four out of five of them were killed in action; I'm not sure if that says anything.

With respect, I'd disagree.
Massa and his entourage, starting with Todt Jr, give me the creeps. The fact that he drives for the red ones makes him all the more disagreeable. But the guy can drive.
There have been a number of races when, in the same car, Massa clearly outdrove Schumacher or Raikkonen. That's a driver.
