Well from what i heard from someone in the stands it "looked" like genuine encouragement and egging them on.
I was even told that at one point some Mclaren crew were approaching to help, but were told not to as it would mean a penalty.
I'd like to think that was true, it was apprently what it looked like.
Apparently when the Ferrari guys came back up the pit lane some of they shared a few hand slaps with all the crews including Mclaren.
But it was not clear from the tv where I watched it.
I think there is a fair bit of camaradery within the paddock generally, depsite local allegiencies. Many of the guys have worked in F1 for years at various teams so have a lot of friends in other teams too.

I suspect most Singaporeans stayed well away, as indeed I do when it comes to Silverstone, (5 miles from me!).
MAybe they were all coming back from being away for the weekend to get away from all the pompt, ceremony and general debauchery that follows this sorry series round the world nowadays.
I see Bernie has delayed the Indian GP....?!?! I wonder what they will make of the £150 a day tickets for joe Smoe and £8 for a burger!

Interesting that as the 'pit crew' running up to Massa's car weren't exactly the real pit crew. One was a chauffeur and many didn't have fire-proof gear on, yet were going to be removing a fuel hose. I wonder what would have happened if Ron and Norbert tried to remove the hose from Lewis' car?Mind you, the guy who turned up second and held his hand out to stop Massa from driving off (after he'd been stationary for half a minute) made me laugh

dont ask for reasons why...Whilst I am a McLaren supporter I've got nothing against the current Ferrari team and wish them all the luck. However, I've got to say that's one of the funniest pit lane incidents I've seen. We were rolling up when we saw it. I especially enjoyed the sprint.
As regards the pit crew not turning up until later, my experience is that before even being considered as pit crew you've got to be at least approaching obese. When I was reporting in the pits at Le Mans, I felt at home as I was then around 18.5 stone. I fitted right in.
I was impressed with the crew's speed. They were really stretching it out.

Did it not strike you as...odd (nothing sinister, just odd) that Massa travelled so far with the hose dragging before he stopped? Even if he had no direct sense that something was awry, surely his engineer would have been screaming over the radio for him to stop.

I don't think so. To stop any sooner would have meant parking in somebody elses pit bay. I'm sure McLaren would have been none to pleased to see him roll up into their garage, and very sure Force India have seen enough of the Ferrari's at close quarter this season to last a life time!
