There are a fair few of you guys that race, sprint, do trackdays etc so there must have been some "interesting" moments.

Post up details, pics, vids or your crashes, spins, off track excursions, amazing saves, etc.

Mine ammount to nearly rear ending a line of cars that had stopped on the exit of School/ enterance of abbots.

This was my first ever spin, the day before the above incident. Just me not catching the slide quick enough.
http://bookatrack.com/-PFwrxstiv2253820935?wrxstiv...

I have spun my E30 one in the rain at the Ring, no damage or even going off tarmac thankfully.

The P1 I spun through the Esses at Castle Combe in the wet. Weirdest mishap to date as I have no idea why it broke away. (will add the vid when I get home later)

And finally a slight off track (wide exit) from Bobbies at Castle Combe in my old Scoob due to me entering Bobbies sideways a bit late on the brakes.

Still from 15+ trackdays and a number of trips to the Ring I don't think its too bad a record.

Cadwell Park this year. Flat out across the start/finish line, keeping my foot planted for Coppice. Carrying too much speed I missed the apex of Charlie's and ran wide on the exit putting 2 wheels onto the bumpy grass, and then spinning in front of 5 or 6 cars.

My abiding memory is with the car pointing backwards, looking at the cars bearing down on me and all locking up to avoid me as I slowly pirouette around. Luckily the others braked hard or left the track to avoid me, and I ended up on the track, almost stationary, facing the right way and managed to avoid any contact. I only lost one place, but drove like a Muppet for the rest of the race.

Brown trousers indeed.

Scared myself a tad following a caterham into Paddock Hill at Brands earlier this summer.

Had been happily going round the corner all morning with only slight sphincter twitches and as confidence increased took more and more speed in and broke later and later - still within my novice comfort zone.

This particular lap I'd let a caterfield past me beofre the pit streight as he was way faster in the corners but, bing some 150-200 bhp up on him, I was on his tail inthe Paddock hill.

His breaking point was a bit later than my usual and his corner speed a bit higher.

I realised what I'd done as soon as I hit the breaks but managed, largely by good fortune, to trail break and negotiated the corner with my left wheels right on the outer radius of the corner. happily I'd been on a few days up at North Weald with Andy Walsh so had been practicing for this very eventuality.

Looking back at the incident I was pretty please that I'd been able to stay on track and had been able to modulate the breaking to keep the back end behind as it tried to overtake ame a few times.

Apart from nearly ramming a mate up the rear into Druids as he slowed down way too much (blamed it on the instructor sat inwith him) no other major trackday incidents!

Similar to my Ring spin, I had just overtaken someone and was sat facing the wrong way on the exit of a blind corner. Good job I was well off line. I would have felt terrible if he had trod on the brakes and stuffed it into something.

Test day at Mallory, in the wet, in a Lotus Exige. Data logging display showed identical speed to previous several laps coming off of Gerrards, but this time it spun. Having seen several crashes there previously, expected it to get expensive, but it spun through 360, I was still on the track and thought what a great save. Until I realised I was still on full opposite lock, and exited the track to the outside, eventually reversing into the barriers at about 0.1mph. No damage - phew!

750 Roadsports in Exige at Snetterton - hit brakes at end of Revett Straight, just where the oil slick was. Managed to get off the brakes, and back onto them, fortunately on a more grippy piece of tarmac, with enough time to get around the Esses. Sheer panic for a split second though.

Two spring to mind, all during my first experience of track driving.

It was at Donington in the pouring rain, and I was in an XTR4 on semi-slick tyres and with a 'dry' brake set-up. Did I mention it was my first time on a track, ever?

First one was on the Dunlop Bridge straight, changed into third at about ninety floored the throttle (silly) the rear tyres span up and I had to put an armful of lock on to keep it on the straight and narrow.

Second was coming into the S bends at the end of the Dunlop straight (the Melbourne loop was closed) got on the brakes and they locked up. Came off them and got back on, locked up again. Ended up going straight on at the end of the straight and having to weave around the tyre walls. Cue hysterical laughter from my ever-supportive mate in the passenger seat.

Oh yeah, another good one was at Brunters. I was in the Litchfield Type 25 and I was struggling with a bit of understeer, so Ian told me to be a bit more aggressive on turn in. For some reason that will NEVER become clear to me, I decided to attempt this technique at the near-100mph right hander, just after the Asda jet. I pitched it in and the rear just let go, opposite lock. More opposite lock. More opposite lock. More opposite lock. Oh dear, that's all the opposite lock. Totally sideways at about 80mph, feathering the throttle to stop it all going horribly pear-shaped and looking out of the passenger side window to see 'straight ahead' I somehow managed to keep it all together. If only someone had been filming it, I could have claimed it was deliberate.

too many to mention - although this weekend, SPA, in the rain, coming out of Blanchimont sideways most laps was pretty interesting

also - guy in front hits brakes in the middle of Eau Rouge, whilst i'm flat out and 3 feet behind, in pouring rain.........that certainly focussed the mind and required a change of Nomex....

don't have any pics though - gutted!

As above, too many to list, but most notable:

Flat out into Riches (in a Seven) in 4th place, guy in 3rd loses the rear and spins, I try to avoid and we pihouette in formation smile I came to a halt just on the grass and he was mid-corner with a field of 20 odd cars bearing down on us. Braced myself for the (inevitable) impact and it came. Car hit me amidships and luckily the axle took the brunt of the impact. The car that hit me sailed OVER my car, brushing my lid with the tyre. Got away with bruised ribs and a rather banana shaped car.

Continuing the theme, another competitor (who routinely drove like a muppet) lost it at Cadwell coming out of Charlies, slides onto grass, then forces it back towards the track, loses it and spears off directly in front of me. I take avoiding action (seeing it coming) and take to the grass - a back marker also loses it as they exit Charlies at full tilt and hits me square up the rear - launching themselves OVER the car again (now with full cage!).

Still, it made a change from blowing engines.

The bump on the apex of the left part of the esses in normally good for making any car slide in the wet - come to think of it I've had some moments in the dry too!

I completly missed it (if I'm thinking of the same bump as you), I went wide of the kerb probably only doing about 45mph just to avoid risking a spin and looking a complete plum.
It really is a mystery to me. I did nothing to unsettle the car, constant throttle, smooth steering and the back just came round and full lock couldnt bring it back.
I guess I could have tried planting the throttle but was worried it may bring same results as my Anglesey spin which would have landed me in the marshalls post.

What happened in that last pic? your car seems undamaged so did he turn in and you just drove off the track to avoid him?

Yes I got up alongside then he turned in, he saw me at the last minute but by that point i'd thrown it onto the grass to avoid contact.
Search youtube for Brands raw material and there are a few clips of me throwing it at the scenery, the video was made by the 155 V6's team.
